[had taken the afternoon off at Maureen's invitation and is now milling about, looking somewhat amused and perplexed about the whole thing.]

[Letting the drums take over, and having now run out of oppressive poetry to read, Maureen hopped off the stage and wove her way through the crowd. Upon seeing Thomas, she gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek.] Hey babe! Glad you could make it~

[kisses Maureen's cheek in return, and if his arm around her waist wanders a little southward, well, it's a friendly grope.]

Hey gorgeous. You know I can't say no to you. [looks around at the drums and the... are those exploding flowers?] Is this what protests usually look like?

[You don't see her complaining~]

I promise not to take advantage of that... Unless you want me to. [She looks around and laughs] Well... Not always. I got a little out of hand with this one.

Colin had heard there was going to be protesting, and he thought it would be worth his time to wander along and see what kinds of protests exactly went on around here.

So far he was not particularly impressed. He'd heard that there were staff members at the Institute who'd been arrested for violent political protest in the past; he'd been hoping for at least some angry shouting, but this was disappointing and didn't seem very practical or useful. Perhaps it was working up to something more worthwhile, but until that happened Colin was going to be standing to one side with his arms folded, watching in a slightly puzzled, disapproving sort of way. He did not feel optimistic.

Noh-Varr had decided to go to the protest, because he was also a bit curious about exactly what it would be liked. He certainly agreed that the restrictions in question were foolish. But at the same time, he wasn't sure how making a spectacle in the street was supposed to help the problem. So he wanted to see for himself. And as things started getting underway it wasn't really becoming anymore clear to him.

He noticed Colin sulking and although he didn't know him he recognized him as someone from the institute. So he approached. "You do not look pleased to be here."

Colin didn't recognize Noh-Varr, but he looked like an Institute kid - to be honest, though, he would have been willing to reply to pretty much anybody.

"Well, I'm just not so sure this is the right way to make people sit up and pay attention," he said, watching Maureen with a frown. "This kind of thing is totally inaccessible to the common man - sure, it might mean something to people who already want to hear this stuff, but the people who need to hear it aren't going to listen to this."

Courfeyrac's method of protest was a little less violent than previous demonstrations. He had read a very lurid parody of exactly what he thought the goverment was doing to its citizens in the form of an extraordinarily trashy bodice ripper. He sorrowfully summarized the long campagin of seduction and the broken stream of campaign promises that the hateful Lord Government had subjected the sweet Miss Liberty to, and dwelt with grim relish on the attempted final seduction into Lord Governments Bed of Oppression when suddenly, in burst Mr. Revolution, who defeated Lord Government in a thrilling ideological duel, swept Miss Libery off her feet, and restored her to her rightful place in the hearts of the worthy.

Courfeyrac felt that it was a very good bit of satire, considering that English wasn't his first language. As he took a flourishing bow to waves of laughter and applause, he certainly felt quite satisfied with himself. He hopped offstage with the satisfaction of a job more than well done.

Seeing as he had only come to this protest to win Enjolras Points, Maxxie was bored as hell before Courfeyrac had walked on stage and he had listened attentively to the story, snickering at the particularly trashy parts. As Courfeyrac wrapped it up, he made his way through the crowd and was right next to the stage by the time the other man jumped down.

"Courfeyrac!" he exclaimed, a wide grin on his face. As he got closer he looked a little coy. "That was good, but I probably would have liked it better if it was Sir Liberty."

Courfeyrac threw his arms aroung Maxxie. "Maxxie! I had no idea you were at all interested in politics! It's wonderful to see you here."

He laughed. "Sorry Maxxie, but when my country gives yours an enormous bronze statue of a woman holding up a torch and calls it the statue of liberty, one's hands are tied as to gender. Still, I am pleased that you could appreciate such a work of astonishing literary merit!"

Maureen had been mingling with a lot of the people that showed up, but listened, with interest, during Courfeyrac's part. With a big grin, she flung herself through the crowd and wrapped him up in a big hug, grinning from ear to ear. "Babe, that was amazing!" she laughed.

[has been fairly bemused by Maureen's protest so far but welcomes the sight of a familiar greenish face some way on the other side of the crowd]

[weaves his way across to Reg and plants a friendly, firm hand on his shoulder] Reg, glad you could make it today. How was your business trip?

[beams at] Enjolras! Boy, you should've been there! This man was using the undead as slave labor. Can you believe it? In Haiti. We were able to free them, fortunately, but then the authorities wanted them buried! Naturally we were having none of it, so we gave them a little salt water--it restores their souls to their bodies, you know--and a couple of pamphlets and set them up in Port-au-Prince. Only, you know what the situation there is like and there's no anti-discrimination policies set in place with regards to the vitally challenged--it's enough to make you want to cry, if you ask me. I've been raising money for a sort of coffee shop-cum-community center, but I haven't heard back from Ron Jomero's estate. [sigh] It's the least he could do, after all the vitalist propaganda his [and here he makes air quotes] "films" have spawned. [slumps, then brightens] Anyway, enough about me! How about you? Keeping busy, I hope?

[is actually deeply impressed at Reg's tale and gives him a congratulatory handshake] Well that's truly remarkable, Reg; it sounds like you've really been making a difference out there. [looks a little subdued:] We haven't been quite so productive here I'm afraid - there's been a considerable amount of distractions from within the school to be able to make any real advancements on issues like the Crossfire case or the travel ban. It's only when things start to settle down at the Institute that we can really put our combined efforts in to political projects outside of the school. [Enjolras doesn't sound entirely happy with this] I'm sure the others will tell you all about it when you see them but there was an incident with Feuilly, Bahorel and Courfeyrac being transported back in time.

He's standing around, looking like he wants to violently shout something. Or punch someone. But this is Mo's protest. So he won't. At the thought, he sulks slightly.

As soon as Maureen sees him, she's rushing over and nearly tackling him with a hug and kiss. "Cheer up, babe! I'm glad you could make it!"

"Hello, Mo. Great turn out." He gives her his best smile, though he returns to looking like he wants to punch someone. It's how he gets things done.

Maureen flashes a bright grin back at him before looking over the crowd. "I'm really pleased with the turn out, thanks..."

She glances back at him and tries not to laugh. There was no one he could punch right now to make things better...
