[His book's open as he shuffles through a few holo-screens, surfing the internet to get more familiar to the area he just moved to. Restaurants, theaters, stores, maps, etc....]

Though, it was possible being tense and strong-willed at a party would be rather contradictory to the intended effect. That would be a little bit hard to balance out. For now, he just took a slice of cheese pizza and hoped that he could help as best possible.

So, when he'd heard the offer of pizza and a party in a hotel, he'd taken up the offer like a shot.
Walking about with a slice of Hawaiian as big as his face, he hopped up onto a footrest next to a guy with glasses and a cool looking ribbon around his head.
"Pretty swell, party huh?"

Hajime actually turned to look at who was addressing him, and managed to lose track entirely of what he'd been planning to say. This... this person was... he was something. He was definitely something. Wow.
It's rude to stare it's rude to stare it's rude to stare
"I, uh--yes. It's. Nice. Very lively. I'm glad... you're enjoying it?"

"Oh yeah, music's great, pizza's great, can hear my own feet again..." He wiggled his spat-clad feet cheerfully, he hadn't realized how much he'd missed that.
"Are you? Oh, wait, I'm meant to introduce myself aren't I..." He held out a blue and furry hand that looked nothing like a hand but did at the same time. "Gonzo the Great! Well, that's my stage name, as you probably know- you can just call me Gonzo."

He had no idea how long he'd been asleep. All he knew was that he was waking up to the smell of what was unmistakably pizza, coupled with insistent reminders from his stomach that, while sleeping was nice and all, he really needed to eat too. He blinked a few times, the pizza slice above his face and the person holding it slowly coming into focus. "You better plan on sharin' that."

Then he put the piece on the plate on his lap, wheeled himself near the door, and went back to munching on his pepperoni. Derrick also expected J to push his wheelchair back to the party.

He blinked a few times, considered his options, and flopped back over on the bed, face down. Sleep first.

Not that he wanted to be a part of the group, mind you. He just wanted pizza. That was all.
He'd been wondering why he even came here at all, but with all the madness in the school, he was glad he had. He didn't want to be caught in whatever mess that was going on. And he didn't want to be around those breathing walls anymore; it'd been freaking him out.
But all of that didn't make standing in the hallway, twiddling his thumbs, any less awkward.
What was he supposed to do, though? Go in and announce, "Hi, I'm Jack Spicer, Evil Boy Genius, I will one day rule you all but for now will you let me eat pizza with you?" That was just stupid. This whole situation was stupid. Why did he even care ( ... )

That was why the unhappy tune caught his attention - amongst the satisfied and relieved Music, it stuck out something awful. He vaguely recognized it; he'd heard it around the Institute before but couldn't put a face to it. Of course, there was only one solution to this.
About a minute later, he headed out into the hall, following the tune to a kid doing his best Manson impersonation. "Hey, there's more'n enough to go 'round," he greeted the kid with a smile and a plate of pizza. "Wanna come inside?"

"Uh," he began, just staring for a moment. "I..."
He shook his head slightly and turned his astonished stare into a cocky smirk. "Well, I was about to just steal your pizza anyway, but if you're offering..."

... And if his mind started to wander, Derrick would think back to things he didn't want to recall. That doubt and fear needed to stay away in a party full of music empaths. Derrick wanted to push it all away because he didn't want to bring the party down. It... it happened. And it would be over. He hoped.
Derrick had wheeled his wheelchair to end of the table nearest to the door, intending to listen, eat, and not think about bad things.

It felt good to be able to actually hear herself think. She moved past Derrick and grabbed a slice of pizza before turning back to him, "The wheels are new though." She leaned against the table and blew on her hot slice, oh this was going to taste so good. "How're you holding up?" she asked before taking a bite.

"Nice hotel." He liked that it had some distance between them and the school.

So, she decided to help change it by trying to jump on the next topic of the hotel. "Yeah. They even have a hot tub and indoor pool. A girl from school dragged me down there yesterday and I have to admit it was a pretty good idea. I'm kinda glad other people from school showed up though because it would have been a little boring staying in a hotel by myself."
