It's not like Jane cared much for rules anyway, so he strolled into the library with a cup of hot tea. As he walked over to the History section, he noticed a new face- someone who was fidgeting around nervously. Students were rarely this studious, so he assumed it was a new teacher.

Jane kept his voice low as he approached the table, small smirk in place. "They're not that bad, I assure you."

His blue pen scribbled furiously over an already littered piece of paper, chicken scratch notes along side neat rows of names and dates, and key notes that had been laboriously jotted down after several hours of preparation the night before ( ... )

Jane bent over to retrieve the pen for him. He scanned the notes quickly but decided to ask about them anyway, to see how the new guy would respond, if he'd be open or guarded about what he was teaching.

"What's your subject?" Jane sat across from him, to put him at ease and appear more as a colleague.

Winry was up early due to the fact she couldn't sleep. Her mind was spinning with ideas of things she could make and tinker with while she was here. While she was like that sleep never came easy, sometimes running a few days without a proper rest.

Considering how early it was she didn't want to make a lot of unnecessary noise, so she found herself in the library. It was the first time she's been there and it took a while to find. Now she was looking for any books on mechanics, engineering, or anatomy.

She rounding a corner completely entranced in a book and accidentally walked into the table.

The sudden movement threatened to topple the thermos perched by his elbow. Almost too slow to be of any use his hands sprang to the side to grab at the container. It was by pure luck alone that he managed to get a hold of it before it flipped ass over tea kettle to the floor.

Castiel jerked his attention away from his prize, confused, and stared at the girl blankly. One blink then another. "Are you alright?"

Winry also jerked to catch the thermos but she missed and ended up splayed out on the table. She chuckled nervously, "I'm okay. Did I disturb you?"

He had the urge to restate his question when the girl tumbled forward but held his tongue and simply tilt his head in bewilderment. This was probably typical behavior for girls, or students in general; he wasn't good at reading children as he was adults.

"No. You did not disturb me." He glanced down at his scattered notes and frowned. He wasn't nearly as organized as he'd like to be and doubted that he could fix the mess before his first class. Perhaps he'd spend a few minutes in between reading assignments and discussion to finish. "I'm merely revising some notes."

Robin was browsing the biography section when she noticed the man taking rather desperate sips of his coffee. She knew nervousness when she saw it, and this man was nervous.

She also realized she didn't know him, but he appeared to be going over lesson plans, so he must be a teacher. She decided to introduce herself.

She walked over to the table and smiled with closed lips, polite. "Hello there, sir. I'm Robin Nico. I don't believe we've met."

So engrossed with his revisions, Castiel didn't notice the woman's approach until she was well upon him but even then he paid more mind to his notes than her. He didn't look up, acknowledge her, until he finished his sentence then turned his face towards her. His eyes widened a fraction when, instead of where he expected her face to be he had to cant his head backwards a fraction more. She was very tall, he noted, and cleared his throat, offering a rather weak smile.

"Good morning." He pushed away from the table and straightened in front of his chair. "No, I don't believe we have. Castiel Tomlin."

Robin waited patiently until he finished his notes, scanning them as she did so. It didn't take her long to realize that he must be the new Religious Studies teacher. She wasn't particularly religious herself, but as faith was a part of any society, their subjects were rather closely linked. As such, he would be a good person to know.

She nodded. "Nice to meet you, Mr. Tomlin." Her eyes flickered to the notes and back. "I assume you're a new teacher as well?"

The moment of surprise was short lived given that his notes were in disarray around the typeset papers on the table. It would take only a glance, which he was sure was the case here, to notice that they weren't just ramblings but structured outlines and case points, facts and dates all lined up in neat rows with cue points for discussion. However, he would give her credit anyway and avoid any awkward conversation by pointing it out. He didn't care to make a horrible impression his first day.

"You are very astute," He said instead and resettled in his chair. "I have three classes I'm to teach today and, unfortunately, my preparations are not as complete as I'd have liked them to be." Castiel considered it marginal bad luck to find himself so ill-prepared though didn't think it was too much an imposition. He still had time to adjust.

"Would I be right to assume that you, as well, teach here at the Institute, Miss - or is it Mizz? - Nico?"

Rules meant precisely squat to Kirk. You would think military academy would instill some respect for the rules in him, but no. It just made him chomp at bit, his mouth going foamy as he fought and kicked. It had been even worse when he was in regular school, so maybe the Academy had tempered him, but not enough. Let loose in XI, well, it just meant he was slipping into the library with a big old sandwich and the computer Spock had left him, only belatedly realizing he need some sources for his research paper not from the internet that was due tomorrow. He procrastinated, but usually not this bad. He blamed restless nights getting used to not having a second body in the room and harnessing his own powers. Damn therapy sessions bringing up unwanted memories ( ... )

"The lid is quite secure." The response was automatic, involuntary, and out of his mouth before his brain engaged enough to realize that though he was working he was not at work. When he did, Castiel had the good grace to look chagrined and stole a guilty glance towards his thermos. He'd been quite willing to live with the guilt of sneaking it in here but when it was pointed out by a casual observer? Well.

"I would hope I wouldn't be so careless as to spill it," He answered mildly. "But I will take your advice to heart and keep it away from the texts."

Kirk put his shiny new laptop on the desk across from the other, dumping his backpack beside it and the few books he had already collected. Clearly he wasn't worried about being caught, or if he was he hid it well. He liked that little taste of danger, however small and trivial.

"You don't look like a student with a last minute paper," he observed casually as he took his seat.
