Characters: Kuruk, Open! Location: The Gym at the school. Time: The afternoon Content: Kuruk is practicing Judo throws inside the Gym. Format: Starting with prose but feel free to switch Warnings: Nope. None.
Leon heard some activity in the gym, so he stuck his head in to check it out. He was finally back to 100% after being bedridden by that illness, so he could do with a bit of a workout. Dressed accordingly, he stepped inside. His martial arts training consisted of takedowns and other maneuvers he learned during his Secret Service training. Anything other than that he exploited his mutations to improvise on the fly. "Hey," he said. "Looking for a sparring partner?"
After setting the bag up once more and hurling it to the ground, Kuruk heard the other man in the room.
“Hey there, teach.” Kuruk said as he gave a little wave. And then he heard the offer for a training partner. Kuruk looked down to the dummy and then back to Leon. “I wasn’t, but I’m not going to turn down if you are offering.” Tossing around a dummy was fun, but not challenging. Now going against another person, that could be fun.
"I think you meant to say 'Let's see how fast you can get me on the mat'" Kuruk said with a self-assured grin. Before he started to advance cautiously on the teacher.
Yachiru, after locating the kitchen and the supply of sugary sweet things, was looking for the gym. Ken-chan said she needed to work more with her new powers so she could lift more for longer and run faster. The best place to train was the gym, at least until she talked Cueball into letting her throw him around for a while.
Thuds were coming from inside the gym when she finally found the stupid place, so Yachiru hurried to see what she hoped was an epic fight.
It was some lame guy throwing dummies around. She huffed. "Aw man."
Thank you very much~naturalskillJune 19 2010, 22:10:50 UTC
Kuruk would have been insulted had he known that this girl thought he was ‘lame’. He flipped the dummy onto the floor once more with a loud thud before looking over to the pink haired little girl. He raised an eyebrow at the girls disappointment before picking up the dummy one more time. He didn’t even hear anyone else come in.
“You lost or something?” Kuruk figured by her appearance that she was in the elementary classes her.
"Do I look lost?" Yachiru demanded. "I was lookin' for the gym cuz Ken-chan said I need t'get stronger an' I thought it was a fight but it was just you. Whatcha doin'?"
She was, technically. She wasn't planning on attending.
"You don't usually see little kids in here." So of course he thought she was lost. "Well I'm sorry if my training mislead you. If you want to see some fighting going on in here, you need to check during class."
When Kuruk heard Holly J’s voice, he was in mid throw with the dummy. A smirk instantly came to his face just as he slammed the dummy onto the floor. Kuruk never expected to see her of all people here. He did want to check up on her and see if she had changed her mind about her costume or not. Not that it mattered much if she didn’t. He stood up straight and looked over to her. “You have a point there. With people here that can lift takes, regular equipment would be demolished in the first few minutes of a training session.”
And that would leave other people looking to train out of luck if they planned to use that same equipment. “So what brings you here to the gym today, beautiful?” He asked as he lifted the dummy back up, wondering if he should take a break or not.
Barbara decided to visit the gym after her trip into town - only to look, not to train. Rolling herself through Salem Center had tired her arms, she didn't want to strain them.
Well, maybe she could get some throwing practice in. She'd become a bit rusty with the batarangs.
She smiled faintly when she saw the gym occupied, slowing to a stop inside the door. "Judo, huh?"
Kuruk turned his attention over to the new teacher on campus. "Yep. Got to keep bettering my skills." Kuruk maybe have been pretty laid back and pretty lazy at times, but martial arts was definitely something that he took seriously. And it showed by how diligently he would train himself.
Karrin recognized Kuruk and smirked. It was always fun to find other people working in the gym. She rested her own wooden sword on her shoulder, wondering if perhaps she should practice some judo throws instead.
After watching Kuruk for a few moments she set her sword down and got up. "You know, it's always better to practice with an actual opponent than throwing around dummies."
He looked over to her and smirked as well. “That’s very true. But as you can see, this place is pretty empty. And I don’t think any of my friends would come down here just to let me toss them around.” A real opponent would have been ideal, but he worked with what he had. And at the moment, that was an eighty five pound training dummy.
"Yep. There's not really much else going on and what better way to kill boredom than beating up things," Karrin replied with a shrug. She sometimes hated the winter and how it seemed to kill all sorts of productivity. Karrin showed up in the gym at least once a day if not more. Sometimes she wondered if maybe she should look for a new hobby.
“Yeah. Winter is a pretty boring time of the year isn’t it? Good thing summer isn’t all that far off.” He’d be happy when that time of the year gets here, for more reasons than one.
“Well I’d hope so. I’ve been at this for hours.” He holds out his arms and stretches as he walks over to Karrin and stops a few feet away from her. “You any good with Judo?” He saw the wooden sword she’s holding and just figures she must be here to practice with that, but if she did know Judo, perhaps she’d be his sparring partner.
