[Sephiroth isn't the easiest person to read, although Ulquiorra's not inviting anyone that he thinks would have no interest in the club.]
I can tell you more about it if you're interested.

I am.
[Interested, that is.]

"The idea is to make certain the members are prepared to deal with unorthodox situations, and that students who participate in the club think about how to deal with things instead of just reacting."

He suspected the staff were kept busy. He wasn't a member of the Curfew Club but he knew it existed and that people frequently broke the curfew rule. They had lesson plans, assignments to grade, and they had the task of keeping students in line outside of classes.
"In order to give the impression that it really is just a club for people interested in tactical combat, I'm going to make the first meeting a paintball game. It's a good way to see what sort of strategic ability people have without anyone getting more than a few bruises."

Ulquiorra, hi. Can't say I was expecting to hear from you anytime soon.
[They weren't supposed to have a sparring session today after all. Maybe he wanted to blow some steam or something. Who knew?]
There something I can do for you?
[She sat down her magazine and scooted over on the couch so he could sit down.]

[Mei Wan, in his opinion, was someone who definitely would have the element of surprise in a fight. He'd been mildly shocked to discover how proficient she was at hand to hand combat. He took a seat on the free spot on the couch.]

[He knew that she didn't want it broadcast around the Institute about her martial arts training. It just didn't go with her image. Fashionable girls should not be able to beat most people up one handed. It's just now how it was supposed to be.]

And there are other girls who are joining, so you wouldn't be the only one.
[Granted, some of them were tomboys, but not all were.]

Now she's back and looking mostly like her normal self, though she's probably lost a little weight.]
Ulquiorra right? You're in a couple of my classes. There something you need? Can't help you with homework though, since I haven't been there either.

I've been getting caught up in my homework, thank you.
[It didn't hurt to be polite, after all. With Rinoa's abilities, she'd be excellent for ranged attacks]
I'm starting a new club called Tactical Combat Club. It's meant for students with combative powers or training. I thought it might be best to have a group of students who know how to respond to unorthodox situations.

[Roast them, soak them, dry them off and then leave them with no ground to stand on? She could totally do that... in theory.]
Doesn't sound like something the teachers would be all that thrilled about.
[Really though, Rinoa wasn't a huge advocate for fighting and that last heroic gesture had been pretty nightmare inducing. Still, sometimes you had to do things you didn't like for your own good and all that.]
So how does it work exactly? Just extra training before something bad happens again so we'll be ready?

[He sets his hands in his pockets before continuing]
I got Ms.Tsunade to be a staff sponsor, and Ms.Lisa Lisa agreed to help with the club. I'm going to talk to other staff who are...less traditional about it, as well.
More or less, it's extra training, and getting organized so that we prepare for the unexpected. As capable as members of the staff might be...they won't always be able to protect us. Depending on them for that instead of preparing ourselves is foolish.

...whatever you're selling, I ain't buying.

[Ulquiorra turns to leave, although he's not walking away especially quickly]

[He scrambles to sit up, not about to chase after the guy since it wasn't his style, but not exactly going to let him leave either]
Tactical Combat? That isn't a fancy word for a Chess Club or something, is it?
Reply
No. It's a club for students with combat powers and/or combat training that will involve using strategy in combat. The first meeting's going to involve a game of paintball to get a sense of people's planning skills.
