Ikkaku takes his time, but their rooms aren't so far apart and he's spent enough time in Yumichika's to know exactly where it is. He gets there about five minutes after cutting the feed (Yumichika'll want to get ready and be annoying and set up and he really really really wants no part of that).

And he sorta strolls in and. Yumichika's hair looks the same as it always does, really. Ikkaku can't really tell the difference, considering they see each other every day and he knows what to do-- Yumichika's hair is actually pretty easy to cut, and he's done it before, but it's still a pain in the ass.

And if everyone shaved their heads, life would be a lot easier for everyone involved.

"Alright. Let's get it over with!"

"Don't say it like it's a chore," he says, eyeing Ikkaku to remind him that he'd agreed to going to the gym with him after this. Of course, his iPod is ready and his bag is all packed and everything.

He'll never admit it, but the sort of tickling that happens with scissors cutting hair is kind of an uneasy feeling. He's also always paranoid that his ear will somehow get cut off.

Which is why Ikkaku is the only one near his head, because he'd trust Ikkaku with his life, and sometime during their friendship, Yumichika had promoted him in trust of his hair.

Looks were just important.

He passed Ikkaku the scissors. "And don't rush."

Ikkaku grins lazily back, spins the scissors on one finger before catching it and gesturing absently at the chair. "It comes out lookin' the same whether I rush or not."

Which is... true. He's pretty good at making sure both sides match up and nothing's spectacularly out of place, but every time Yumichika asks him to do this, his mind still boggles. Ikkaku doesn't spend nearly enough time messing around with hair to even trust himself to cut it and have it look alright.

... as long as it wasn't Yumichika, anyway. Ikkaku thinks he's been doing this for way too long, even by his standards.

And he knows exactly where Yumichika keeps his comb, too, which doesn't make him feel better about it. At all. But he goes to get it anyway. (What, did anyone really expect Ikkaku to have one. Really.)

He sits, and he thinks it's true; Ikkaku's good and he really doesn't have any reason to worry or nag. He just does, for tradition. And luck.

It's bad manners to close his eyes, he remembers, but he doesn't want to see the change until it's done. He wants to see the full force of the transformation, because even if it doesn't look like it to Ikkaku, no one really looks at Yumichika more than Yumichika does.

He braces himself for the first snip, because that's the most important one.

He'll have hair on the floor when this is all done, which is the first place he's looking. It always looks like too much, and it never is.
