Kirk to the rescue! ;D universal_charm May 5 2010, 01:51:18 UTC
Kirk liked to come to the garage to check out the cars there. He liked them, and was always more than a bit peeved this his Uncle couldn't have been a better relative and gotten him something to move around in like the rest of the farm kids around the town. He didn't care if it was a beat up Cadillac from the days of old or a new Ford 150, it would have been nice to have a car. But, since he didn't have the money and his Uncle was a jerk, he made do with looking, wishing, and having boyish wet dreams about them.

So of course he pays attention to the sleek black Hummer that pulls in - and the hottie that gets out. He remember her from Thomas's party, recalling the name 'Gretchen'. He chuckled as he watched her debate over what he assumed to be shopping bags, and after a short minute waltzed over in his sneakers and jeans, and plaid top that did wonders for his farm boy persona.

"Need some help?" he asked her, flashing that boyish grin.

Gretchen was looking around the garage. Come on, there had to be someone around. She ran her fingers through her hair and had almost given up when she heard someone walking over. She glanced towards where the sound was coming from... Oh! She smiled brightly, immediately recognizing that cute farm boy from the New Year's party.

She glanced into her car's window to make sure her lipstick and makeup was okay before turning back to him and closing the distance with a quick few steps. "Oh my god, you have no idea. I.... might have bought a little too much today."

He came around and glanced inside the car, eyebrows raising when he spied how many packages she had. Damn, this girl must have some upper body strength.

"Yeah, just a little," he chuckled. "What did you do, lead a pack mule around the mall?" He was teasing though and reached in, gathering up three-quarters of the bags on his arms and in his hands, leaving her four to try and manage by herself. He only had so much room on his arms, after all.

"Where to m'lady?" he asked with a fake, gallant British accent, inclining his had ever so slightly.

Gretchen laughed and shook her head. "I don't really think they'd let one in the mall? But if by pack-mule you mean a few clerks who are really good with customer service, I guess so."

She watched as he gathered most of the bags into his arms, leaving the lightest four for her. She reached in and grabbed them, making a little more of a show than she needed to. "My dorm is A33... Can you make it that far with all of this?"

Han was in the process of turning the Institute garage into his own little personal haunt. His room was nice enough yeah, and he would probably migrate to the metalshop class at some point, but the smells of engine grease, gasoline fumes and engine exhaust such were kind of soothing to his grease monkey soul. So he sat in the back, feet propped up on a table and read the latest issue of his favorite car magazine.

He didn't mind the sound as the Hummer rolled into the garage, but he did watch over the top of his magazine to see who owned the behemoth. He chuckled to himself as he watched Gretchen's dilemma, highly amused by the whole thing. He might help her if she asked, but for right now he was just enjoying the show as she tried to figure out how to get all her bags out of the massive SUV and up to her room.

Gretchen glanced over when she heard the chuckle. It was empty enough for her to hear that. She raised her eyebrows and crossed her arms over her torso. Really? What kind of person just laughed and didn't offer any help.

"Ah... Hello?" She took a few steps towards him, waggling her fingers. "Hey, yeah... Hi? Could I ask you to, like, maybe give me a hand or something?"

The kind that got some amusement from watching others flail around, that's who. And he did like being asked for his help. Han acted as though he had just noticed the student, letting the magazine sit in his lap as he tried to decide whether he should help her or not.

"Sure, you can if you really want to." Because, well she had just asked if she could ask for his help, she hadn't actually asked yet.

Gretchen pursed her lips and sighed through her nose. She could feel that he was amused... It was almost annoying really. But she was just going to ignore that, because amused or not, he might actually help her. She offered him a big smile, borderline strained.

"Ok... So... Would you mind helping me? Please?" she asked in a sing-song voice. "I mean, it would be a big help. But I understand if you're too busy or something..."

She trailed off and eyed the magazine for a moment before looking back up at him and grinning just a little more.

There was actually sort of a legitimate reason for Nakuru to be wearing her "boy disguise" again today--she had been kind of lazy about unpacking her bags so far, and these were the warmest clothes she had on hand at the moment. Likewise, she had a semi-decent reason for ducking into the garage despite not actually owning a car--it was a nice little oasis of warmth before she had to venture back out into the cold once again. Anyway, fate had brought her to this spot at this moment under these circumstances. And once she laid eyes on one of her new classmates, just back from the mall, she understood why.

Nakuru ducked into a far corner of the garage before anyone could see her to quickly pull her hair back and tuck it beneath her cap, then straightened her clothes and strode out to offer the poor little lady some assistance. "Well now, it looks like someone's had a productive day," Nakuru teased, pitching her voice half an octave lower than usual. "Can I offer you a hand?"

Gretchen couldn't be happier to hear a friendly voice. She was so worried she'd have to take several trips, or at least shell out cash to some lovelorn nerd.

She grinned back, tucking her hair behind her ear. "That would be amazing... I wasn't really sure how I was going to, like, get all of this back to my room."

Nakuru gave Gretchen a friendly smile in response before arching a brow at just how many bags she had brought back with her. "Goodness, did you buy out the whole store?" Her surprise was a pure affectation, though. A little good-natured teasing about shopping would help cement her masculine persona, and helping out anyway would show definite interest in Bridget.

"Well then, I guess it's just your lucky day! And mine too, as a matter of fact."

Not like she hadn't heard that one before, but Gretchen still laughed at that and shook her head. "Oh god, no. I'm pretty sure I left some not-as-cute clothes for everyone else to pick through."

She brightened a little. "You'll help me carry some of these back to my dorm, then? That was be so great."
