Ever since the battle in Mexico, Leon had been brooding more than usual. The battle itself had been easy, too easy if you asked him, but what it meant for this Universe was far more significant than the outcome of one fight. The Darkness was here, and sooner than expected. If Leon couldn't learn more, then that small skirmish might be the beginning of the end for this reality and all who lived in it.

Having assumed his lion form, finding it easier to think without human distractions, Leon emerged from the woods after his walk, only to pick up a familiar scent. Turning, he saw Toph in the distance holding something, and in a rare case of feline curiosity, he decided to pad over and investigate.

There was no sneaking up on Toph. She sensed the lion approaching and mostly ignored it. She knew it was probably Leon...or one of the other shape-shifting students. Granted, it could be a real lion (you never knew on this campus) but it didn't feel like a threat.

Her little pet seemed to disagree. It must have been animal instinct since the badger-mole tensed up. Toph's vacant eyes widened a little as she felt the earth start to shift a little under her feet. Huh, that wasn't her...so it was either Milkshake working on his technique or it was the mole. "Easy little guy. The other furball is a friend," she whispered to the creature.

"Isn't that right, fuzz-face," Toph called out to him.

"Right," Leon replied, keeping his distance for the moment, and ignoring Toph's tendency for nicknames.

Smelling the strange animal's fear from where he stood, Leon sighed and lay down, trying to avoid threatening movements or sounds. "Would it be best if I change back?"
