Hinata was avoiding the kitchen thanks for a warning from Hanabi but she wasn't sure where else to get something to eat really. She pushed her hair back and froze. Above and ahead of her--

She looked up out of habit even if she could see him before he was even in sight.

"Ah...hello."

Zidane kicked off the ceiling and landed gracefully in front of her, "Most people don't see me running around, Hi!" He ran a hand through his hair as his tail whipped around behind him slightly.

"I'm Zidane," he offered, no hesitation to introduce himself by his real name. He did the codename thing with the guys... and Nymph, and Hope, guys and girls that were really really likely to hurt him. Girls, he wanted to be himself, it was only polite you know. "Must be one of the kids we rescued from Xavier's, right?"

"It's...my power. I can see around me in all directions." She smiled very hesitantly at him, not sure if she could trust him. He seemed nice enough though.

"I'm Hinata--I mean Vigil...Yes I was from Xavier's. You must have been here before?" She didn't want to seem rude after all. Her hand reached up and played with her necklace.

"Pretty useful, glad you're on our side," That power would be annoying if she was on a side that wasn't his. Zidane paced around a little, which in his case included walking up the wall for fun. And there was space to do it.

"Pretty good choice for a codename," Zidane offered, he was now gently hanging from a part of the ceiling by his tail, grinning. "Yeah, been here a while. It isn't so bad... once you figure out how this place works and who to talk to, who to avoid, when you can snag supplies from the kitchen." That was the one complaint people had, Zidane generally joined in on the complaint. He grinned like he knew something useful on the subject.

[sometime after Zidane and Hinata meet] usedforcepalm April 1 2010, 03:48:27 UTC
Hanabi had been keeping track of Mami's schedule as best as she could so that she'd know precisely when it was that Mami was not in the kitchens. She wasn't going to eat anything that the woman served ever again. 'Mystery' meat was already gross, the clues she'd received weren't exactly appetizing either.

Kanji mentioned he was willing to share, and Hanabi had bought a fair amount of Kraft Dinner and other things during the supply run. It probably looked odd for a girl her age to be walking around alone with a box of food like that, but at least it had been in broad daylight. It could easily be explained as running an errand for her mother.

Kraft Dinner did require milk, so she'd timed her sneaking around just right and snuck down to the kitchen in hopes of making something to eat.

Zidane had been in the kitchen for much the same reason as Hanabi. That "Not Swag" bag he had been carrying was currently on the counter, filled with some food stores. He'd moved to the ceiling as soon as he heard someone enter the kitchen. A kid? Those eyes? Zidane smiled to himself before gracefully falling behind the girl, without a sound.

It was easy for him to do, part of his gifts made gravity only a slight annoyance. He waited patiently for the girl to turn around and spot him... then he stopped waiting, "Take it you don't like the menu here, huh?"

Hanabi jumped and whirled around when she heard the voice. She looked at the new arrival with wide light-colored eyes.

"I saw Ms. Mami hunting seagulls and putting them into a bag," said Hanabi, regaining her composure. "I think I might have solved the 'mystery' of mystery meat."

She shuddered a little. The fact that she'd eaten even one meal that Mami made still made her stomach churn a bit. Thankfully, she was alive and well.

Zidane nodded at her commentary, then entirely ignored it for his own question, "Got a cute older sister in the Brotherhood?"

It was a little unfair to not allow even a kid like her out of having to deal with Mami's cooking. Zidane eyed her a moment, considering. On the one hand, he couldn't save everyone from Mami. That'd get Mami's attention, but nobody did tend to notice the Thieves were never around at meals. So he softened his look a moment. "Look, if you follow me, there's a way around the cooking here."

He hopped over and snagged his bag and tossed a few apples into it. Then started toward the door.
