Easy enough that even without taking any care to go unnoticed, Yuffie had already managed to raid the kitchen before she got within arm's reach of Manuela and announced herself with a, "It's just gonna get dirty again tomorrow, y'know."

Except, due to her mouthful of toast, it came out more as, "Izusonnaeririenumoroyno." Uncaring of this minor flaw in the communications process, she took another bite of her loot and frowned at Manuela expectantly.

Manuela let out a little squeak and nearly jumped at the sound of another voice, turning to watch the other girl. She put the mop behind her back almost guiltily.

"I-I'm sorry. I don't understand?"

"Did I stutter? The floor," Yuffie explained through the last mouthful, already brushing crumbs off her hands onto the wet, already-mopped patch of floor she was standing in. "It's gonna get dirty again tomorrow, so cleaning it's gotta be kinda... pointless. You know?"

Manuela frowned. But... but she did stutter! Or mumble, anyway!

She watched the crumbs fall down on the floor.

"If we don't clean it today, then it will only get worse and worse," she pointed out, very, very softly. "So that soon it will be too dirty to eat here at all."

Though Fay wasn't the biggest fan of clearing up other people's mess, he did take it upon himself as the resident motherhen of the submarine to help in clearing up the dining area fairly often. This was mostly because the intense mess didn't particularly please him as it was, and because cleaning something of a nervous habit of his that had sprung up again in the wake of so many new members (and Kurogane). It was a good way of dispelling energy, and Fay hadn't yet been sent on any new missions that would have otherwise allowed him to wind down in his own particular way.

"Ah, Manuela." He returned to the dining room after a brief trip back to his room to changed into a loose t-shirt more suitable for cleaning, smiling brightly at the young girl. "Would you like a hand?"

Manuela smiled at Fay and laced her fingers together around the broom she was holding. "I am okay, but if you want to help too then that would be nice," she said.

She liked Fay. He was kind and always watched out for her and Lenalee. And he didn't insist on calling her by her codename, which she didn't really like in the first place.

"I'd be happy to," he answered with a bright smile. "Just give me one moment." He bounded over to the kitchens, returning a few minutes later with a j-cloth and a tub of warm, soapy water, ready to wipe down the tables.

"You really ought to get more appreciation for the work you do around here." Rune soaked the cloth and then started on the tables, giving Manuela a warm glance. "No one realises, when they come to a clean dining area, how much they would hate it if it was as dirty as they'd left it before each time they came in anew."

She turned a little red as she continued trying to sweep up the scraps of food left all over the place. "I don't mind," she said. "It's not very hard and I don't have much else to do."

Manuela smiled at him a little awkwardly. "At my home, my father had many servants who had to clean and do everything for me. I actually like to clean."
