Characters: Sephiroth and Rufus Shinra Location: Rufus' office Time: 5:00 PM, the day after this Content: For reasons known only to him, Rufus wants to speak to Sephiroth Format: Third Warnings: None
Rufus set the papers he was grading aside at the knock, a far cry from business reports he'd been responsible for in the past. He was still getting used to the change of pace, of being responsible for the development of young minds in a capacity that did not include subterfuge.
A pity that some students cannot be trained as Turks. Or at the very least, trained outright as Turks.
"Enter," Rufus bade, very much aware of who was on the other side of that door. He hadn't expected to run across Sephiroth's name in the student database, having assumed that he was a discarded project when Rufus did not encounter him during the inspection of the Weapon X project. In a way, he was gratified Sephiroth was here. Perhaps with this teenager, he could continue the efforts he had started with Strife.
"Mr. Crescent," Rufus greeted once Sephiroth entered.
While he was vaguely aware of the reason why Rufus insisted on calling him by his last name, he couldn't really say he was fond of it. Oh, he knew it was properly his, but it was still odd to hear it being used. For most of his life he'd been addressed by an assortment of unflattering epithets that varied from 'the boy' to 'Specimen XS 1-0905'. But none of that discomfort showed on his face. It would have been unseemly.
"Mr. President," Sephiroth answered with a faint nod.
"'Visiting Professor'," Sephiroth began, taking care with how to phrase exactly what he wanted to say so as to not come across as being rude, "tends to imply that one intends to eventually return to one's original position or teaching locale. You do not have the latter, to the best of my knowledge."
Thus, it was easy enough to assume he'd be returning to the reins of the Shinra company some day.
