[There's a very definite downside to meeting someone when one doesn't have a reference picture to the other. Neji simply had to trust Shin would be at the appointed place at the appointed time and would recognize Neji from the posted picture.]

[At only a few minutes before seven he enters the cafeteria. He heads toward the southwest side of the cafeteria, dressed impeccably as usual in a nice shirt and slacks. His eyes scan the many faces to find what he would hope to be the counterpart to the name Sawada Shin.]

[During his wait, Shin had been looking over the printed color copy of the Gore Mountain trails, thinking that he should suggest this to Mr. Drake the next time they had a group meeting for the winter sports club.]

[Some movement around his peripheral vision caught his attention. He looked up, when he saw Neji dressed quite well for this meeting. He looked over at his red shirt, black hoodie, and jeans. He liked comfort, what could he say? So he shrugged it off, raised his hand and waved it to get his attention.]

Hey, Neji. I'm over here.

[Shin only belatedly realized that he had spoken to him not in Japanese as he should have, but in English.]

[Neji looked around at the call, a momentary and faint frown crossing his features at the English. He did see the helpful hand, at least. And hoped that the other's the use of English was simply habit and not an indication that Shin's written-to-spoken ratio with Japanese was on the level with Neji's English.]

{Shin? Pleased to meet you.}

[The sight of the map and the tea Neji took to be a decent sign, at least.]

[He gave him a slight bow.]

{Pleasure to meet you as well. Ah, though, sorry about that. I'm more used to speaking in English than in Japanese.}

[He took another sip of his tea, wondering what else to say, aside from pondering what sort of impression Neji had of him based on his appearances alone.]

{Though of course, our family was rather strict on making all of its members speak Japanese while at home, despite only being nikkei. I'm a yonsei myself.}
