[If Doug happens to take a run by the lake, he'll find Kaoru sitting at the edge of it with a wet wash cloth trying to take the water out of it, more often than not, the lake water starts to move instead.]

[Doug almost doesn't notice the other boy in his race against well... nothing really, except perhaps the joy he is feeling, but he sees Kaoru sitting at the edge of the lake out of the corner of his eye and jogs up to him. When his heart stops racing, he realizes he needed to rest a little anyway. He knows enough about running though to know that one doesn't just stop so he walks in place a bit to let his heart rate drop as he talked to the other boy.]

Hey, hows it going?

[He is incredibly boisterous and happy compared to the previous times they had spoken, though he figures it's not hard for most people to guess why.]

[Kaoru is startled for a moment, the water reflect that as it gets a bit rougher before it calms down when he realizes it's only Doug]

[bluntly] You're off your crutches. [Yes, he's very observant] I'm pretty good, just practicing again.
