Leon had been looking for a quiet place to train, hoping to clear his thoughts of this odd world with its strangers wearing familiar faces and its complex conflicts of words and deeds. If there was one single tiny positive aspect about Leon's war, it was that it was frequently very simple. With The Darkness, you fought, ran, or died, that was it. You certainly didn't take exit polls ( ... )

Xiaoyu snapped out of her trance when she heard a familiar voice off from the side, causing her to turn her head to face the source. Spotting her mentor, she gave the older male a smile and nod before trying to relax her muscles, moving on to the next form.

Leon nodded, a almost invisible smile gracing his lips at her improvement. "Correct. Remember, you have to be patient in a fight. Strike too soon and your hit will be sloppy. Strike too late and your opponent will stop you. Be patient, and wait for an opening."

He probably shouldn't be encouraging a student to learn how to fight, but Leon was very much of the "hope for the best but prepare for the worst" school of thought when it came to violence.

Xiaoyu gave Leon a radiant smile as she listened to his advice, the words sounding much like those she usually received from Jinrei. "Hee, you sound like my grandpa! I mean, not that you're old or anything! He just always reprimanded me for being impatient, always attacking before I'm mentally and physically ready." The corners of her lips dropped to a deep scowl as she adopted a scratchy voice in an attempt to imitate the elderly man. "Your impatience is why you haven't mastered the arts yet!"

She dropped her stance now, obviously too distracted at the moment to complete the exercise. With a bounce in her step, she moved a bit closer to her mentor, hands clasped behind her back as she peered up at him with curious eyes. "Whatcha doing out here, Mr. Leon?"
