Emma mentally ran over what she knew of the Akatsuki, leading Sasori down to the holding cell where Itachi was kept. She smiled fondly at Lou, the White Knight on duty, before sharpening her gaze and turning it towards Itachi.

"Hello, Itachi," she said, her voice level. "I've brought you a visitor."

Sasori had remained quiet on the way down, attempting to calm himself by slipping into the ingrained habit of analyzing his surroundings, taking note of the visible security measures and the quite formidable guards.

They did seem to be acceptable, at least, but the exercise wasn't doing very much to help him quell his nervousness.

He took a silent breath and stepped forwards after Emma spoke. His eyes widened when he saw the haggard state Itachi was in, a shadow of the calm, stoic man who'd made the Akatsuki bearable.

"You look like hell," Sasori blurted out.

Damn it. He quickly forced himself to put up an impassive front. "But I suppose that's no surprise for a dead man. Now, explain yourself."

Itachi glanced over without moving his head. "Miss Frost," he said, nodding to Emma, the ghost of a smirk passing over his face briefly. It wasn't the time for the usual figurative staring contest. Not now.

He glanced over farther, to Sasori. "So I've heard," he murmured, in response to the younger man's assessment of his appearance.

Explain yourself.

That was a task Itachi wasn't sure he could accomplish in an hour even if he knew exactly what to say.

But he had to try.

"There was something," he said, licking his chapped lips before continuing, "I had to do."

Emma smirked briefly--how terribly vague. She crossed her arms and settled in. It seemed they would be here for a while.
