When he'd picked up his key, Kariya hadn't really thought about what he'd find in his new room. Whatever he'd been expecting, though, it wasn't a kid building a robot-or-something in the middle of the floor.

He paused. Glanced offhandedly at the crumpled paper in his hand, then at the door. Nope, the number matched.

With a sigh, he shoved the paper into his pocket and took his lollipop out of his mouth. "Koki Kariya," he finally answered. "Your roommate, apparently."

"Sasori Akasuna," he said automatically. "...Wait, roommate? Clearly there must be some sort of mistake."

He frowned, setting aside the puppet part he'd been working on and rising to his feet quickly. "There's no way the staff here would assign me a roommate. Are you sure you have the right room?"

Perhaps his assessment had been wrong, and this school really was run by a bunch of lunatics after all.

"See for yourself," he said, producing his assignment sheet again and handing it over. Frankly, he'd have preferred his own room, too, but this school didn't work that way, from the looks of it, and he didn't care enough to argue with the staff about it.

With his other hand, he tossed his large duffel bag onto the unoccupied bed, where it landed with a hefty thump. (That's Kariya-ese for "Well I'm sure as hell not walking halfway across campus again.")

Sasori studied the sheet carefully, scowl deepening at both its contents, and at Kariya's obvious acceptance of the situation.

Lovely, just lovely. Sasori had thought he'd have one place here where he could work on his projects in peace, but apparently that wasn't the case.

...Probably another one of those 'social acclimatization measures' that he'd been told about before.

"Hmph. Well, I'm certainly going to speak to someone about this later," he said, "but let's assume we're stuck together for the time being."

He crossed his arms. "I'm completely unaccustomed to sharing a living space with anyone, so it'd be best to lay down some ground rules immediately to keep this arrangement from being a complete disaster."
