Second, I was thinking Reki could be nabbing/downloading information for the more science-y types to analyze. (because Reki won't be able to make heads or tails out of much) Which area should he go to?

The central control area has all the experiments being run etc DEEP SPACE TELEMETRY. Engineering would have all the system scans and security footage and things! Data on which areas were damaged // probably any kind of cool scan you wanna run can be done from here.
