Is this really necessary? Ugh, fine.

Hi, I'm Karrin Murphy. I'm 17 and from Chicago. I was going to start the school year here, but it took awhile to convince my mom that this wasn't some crazy idea on my part. Hello, Miss Murphy. Welcome to the Institute. If you have an artistic bent, I teach Poetry and Calligraphy, and you are welcome to come aboard.

I never thought of myself as artistic...especially when it comes to poetry.

You never know, there might be a poet in your soul. If not, there are many other classes for you to peruse. What are you interested in?

I dunno...after high school I kind of want to get into law enforcement...so I guess anything that would help me towards that goal would be nice.

Oh, and Life Skills!

It's a school full of mutants...how is it not crazy? And why band? I don't play any instruments.

How is Life Skills academic?

It's just like every other school, except sometimes someone can shoot lasers or is actually a werewolf. You get used to it. And you should take band because Mr. Brook is amazing, and doesn't even care if you've never touched an instrument in your life.

It teaches you how to handle day to day life, of course. And the teacher, well, he's a local legend.

I think I'm in enough extra curricular type classes.

I might look into Life Skills though.

I'm from Deerfield, about half an hour North of Chicago. Good part of the state to be from, apparently.

Just a little.

I guess that explains why you weren't at school...well...our school back in Chicago. I mean, there was talk that you had transferred, but I don't think anyone really knew where you had gone.

So...how have you been doing here?

Something you're interested in as a hobby would be good. Then your classes aren't all boring.

Actually those were the classes I picked out first. Now I'm just trying to find stuff that's a little more substantial like a science class or something.
