Oh... are we allowed to wear other colors?

Well, the theme for the dance is pretty obvious.

I mean, it's a free country. However I can assure you there will be plenty of other dances in the year where colors will be encouraged.

I'm certainly going to wear other colours. Black and white is so boring.

What the hell is Spirit Week when it's at home?

Just because its a boarding school doesn't mean you can't show some school spirit.

Any sporting event will be more interesting to work out. However I'm sure that won't effect you in the slightest.

I mean what on earth do you actually do for spirit week? Besides a dance. It sounds like Halloween or something.

For someone so keen to promote 'diversity and acceptance' you're not doing a very good job of explaining it to the non-Americans, are you?

Oh, you actually plan to listen?

Well, in that case. Spirit week has a theme, teachers will work it into their classes or there will be events. Like pep rallies, to try to bring a sense of togetherness for the students. Wearing school colors is usually a good idea too.

However, this is all stuff you could probably look up on your own, instead of blaming it on someone else.

Right. Dance. Sure.

[Scoffing, totally. He's scoffing the idea. Which might come back to bite him later.]

If you don't care to go, then don't go.

I'm sure nobody will miss you there.

It's about the usual time this sort of dance happens.

It is? I've never gone to a normal school before so it's hard to keep track of this sort of thing.

Depending on the school it can be anywhere in the early parts of October.

Well, I'm glad for you, that you're so well prepared.

I guess.

Of course, that means I can't wear the dress I was originally going to wear since it's also got red on it....but that's all right. I've got just plain black ones.
