Music Snobbery

I'm a horrendous music snob. Not an in-your-face snob that puts down others' musical tastes, but rather someone who absolutely refuses to be within earshot of music I cannot stand, which is 99.999999% of everything. When I got laid off my very last DJ position, I was most happy that I didn't have to listen to (let alone play) music I didn't want ( Read more... )

Uhm... from the first minute or so that I could stand... "NO."

It's funny that what prompted this post in the first place was a link to something that otherwise would have been a cool link. I just couldn't stand the music, so I closed the tab it was on. Much like with Chocolate Rain.

Have you tried: Above and Beyond, Desyn Masielo, John Digweed, Sander Kleinenberg, Armin van Buuren, James Zabiela, Hernan Cattaneo...?

I've been listening to a LOT of Armin van Buuren (did you see the "music" listing for this post?). I'm very taken with him, particularly considering most of what I've downloaded has been a little over 2hr sets. Woo-hoo!

I've only come across a few Digweed mixes that are very long, and I'll come back here and check out those other artists next time I'm downloading music.

Thanks for the recommendations!

There's no shortage of 2-3 hour sets available.

Digweed's the Godfather of progressive house.

I HATE pop country, but I really like a lot of old country. Especially Johnny Cash. "I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die..."

Willie Nelson is about it for me. Never liked Johnny Cash.

Thanks ;-)

Knowing as many DJs as I do, I get a lot of music snobs. I know what I like, and I'm not ashamed to admit that I have narrow, specific tastes.
