Yeah with kimchi you need to soak in a salt water brine for at least 12 hours and then drain it before adding all the other stinky stuff.

But if you want to get technical it is already 06/06/06 in AU and the world has not ended yet. We already know it is HOTTER THAN HELL DOWN UNDER!

So pffft!

I guess the world will not end. Yippie Skippy! More kimchi for the BBQ at my house. But seriously, this really does need to soak at least 12 hours in the brine before I can drain it and add the other gunk to it.

The Korean BBQ at my house is going to be a lot of fun. We might even try to drink like they do in Korea too! (but if we do we might have to have the BBQ down in the lawn so we don't set the house on fire)

After reading that blog you turned me on to I realized it had been a while since I made any. I was talking to Anne yesterday and decided it was time to make sam gyeop sal or dwaeji gochujang bokeum and have a little BBQ party here at the house. Of course in order to do that I have to start on the kimchi now :)

I am sure the feast will be a fun one!

P.S. Thanks for that link BTW! I am totally addicted and am about 1/2 of the way through his blog. Sad I know the tragic ending :( He had a great sense of humor and a zest for life. I think he was bipolar and just didn't know it and went untreated. I saw the comments about his suicide being "selfish" and all. Thing is... When someone is that depressed they don't see that. They are not thinking clearly and are just looking for a way to make their pain end.

Anyhoo... I love his posts and his photos of the culture. It really makes me want to book a flight and make good on your saying "come on over" when I invited myself to Korea in one of your posts after you went out to a nightclub there.

Wow! I admire you for making kim chi. That's not easy to make.

I still say you should have your own TV show. =D
