Let's talk about my job.

In case you didn't know, I'm a yoga teacher.

Well, "yoga" being something here we define as such: I teach BodyFlow, which is a Les Mills choreographed tai chi/pilates/yoga combo class. It's more active than regular yoga; there's more modern music, less hold-poses-for-an-ungodly-amount-of-time-while-chanting, and more chill. It's just really ( Read more... )

It does sound like a totally shaded money making venture. :P

I am sorry that you had to experience all this nonsense. I hope there will other opportunities and I am glad you get some sense of relief and closure.

Stupid buy-outs and even stupider shady corporate practices.

XD A bit, yeah. Today was nice because I got to talk with all my members and I tried to be really neutral about it, but everyone agrees that $3000 is waaay too much.

It's okay, into every life nonsense must come. Life lessons are good for me! haha. Better to know now so I can be better prepared in the future.

The closure was really good.

Thank you for the support! :)

I've been in that kind of bullshit work situation before, and trust me when I say I understand how much it sucks. But you kept your head and worked things out on your own terms, which is really the only good way to handle this sort of crap.

Take a couple days to chill, get it all out, and move on. You'll feel much better for it. ;)

Thank you for the kind words! :) I feel a lot better already--just finally having figured it out is nice. No more dilly-dallying around the subject. <3

Sonds like that, plus they're trying to save up the work of finding new people, HR is always a mess when newbies are coming, no matter what.

It realy sucks, my dear. Better let it go, before they make you pass trough unpleasant situations after, :( as things look, what if they make you pay de money and after a while working with them they tell you "we are happy with your services but, after all we're making some changes"... you know, more shit...

After some days all will look better and all this distasteful thing will fade. unfortunately jobs sometimes are like that, but don't worry there's always options and better oportunities :3

I am learning more and more about the Big World out there! HR sounds like a rough job.

I agree that more stuff might go down, which is why I'm glad to just let it go now. I haven't told my boss(es) but I figure I'll wait until closer to closing time.

Thanks for your support! :D I am already searching the area for new gyms lol.

I'm sorry, that sucks D:! Maybe you could try and find a more un-formal yoga-class to teach, which wouldn't require so much training. But then it would probably be difficult to find one that worked in the sort of yoga you like, as you said :X ( ... )

I have plenty of options ahead of me! :) Thanks for support. It's definitely easier now--and I think there's a gym nearby that's thinking of starting my class up, so I'll have to jump on that!

DON'T BE SKEPTICAL. I understand that it's more from the irritation of people constantly telling you to do something when they don't understand your problem. To me, yoga is much more about a physical relaxation leading to mental relaxation. You still know what's going on, but you're moving and stretching and it's just a really peaceful state. I can see where the people are coming from, but at the same time they (and I!) don't know what would work best for you! You know yourself way better! So my advice is just to see what's out there--maybe you could do a free trial of a few different styles just to see if you like it? (It's way more about you doing it and liking it than doing it just to try to "ignore external stimuli." It's almost like you'd be trying to hard to relax in order to relax.)

It's the kind of thing I might consider but I'm a poor student with no money XD

It's not that I hate it or think it's dumb, just that I've garnered a somewhat negative connatation with it from years of patronising 'advice'. But yeah, if I had the money, it may be something I'd consider.
