When I saw that this was a crossover for XF and Fringe, I did a little happy dance. It's wonderful. And I agree, this needs to be a novel. I hope that you will add to this story, in time. I loved it, and I'm so happy to have gotten it for my secret Santa gift.

I want to know more about what Olivia said here:

"Mr. Mulder. Please wait. While I can't divulge the specifics, I do want to reassure you that the Consortium's plan, and their collusion with the alien colonists, is no longer a pressing concern."

Thank you for my gift. It fits perfectly.

Yes, of course. Although as she said, it isn't any longer a pressing concern, but I could probably work a little about that into the next part.

Initially I think this story is about what happens to McClennan. He fits my profile of people I am interested in writing about: innocent people who are collateral damage and being lied to about what actually happened to them. I want to figure out what he does next and what Mulder thinks about him and what Olivia is going to do about Mulder snooping around, looking for Fringe division. What Broyles is going to do. From Mulder's perspective, they're going to look like just another government cover up operation.

Edit: God, where are my manners. Thank you! As soon as I saw your prompt, I knew I had to assign myself to you! It was enormously fun to write and imagine. I'm (seriously) already outlining the next segments.

I need to re-watch Fringe from the beginning. I had a lot of the eps saved on my DVR but lost them all when the DVR died on Christmas Eve.

I'm glad to hear you are planning to continue in this universe, and I'll look forward to reading it!

Organizing a formal Fringe rewatch community (probably at DW because I know more Fringe folk there) is on my list for this year. I am doing an informal rewatch with my husband. We're in the middle of season four already. They had the entire series on sale at Amazon for some absurdly low price but I already own 1-4 (plus a Bluray of season three) and it seemed like a waste for me to get it.

I am organizing another fest (for Scully's 50th birthday--my hope is to have XF fests going 3-4 times a year) but once that's jump-started I have so much writing to do this year.

I've GOT to do the Fringe rewatch, because it's obvious that McClennan is someone I've forgotten about. That's my problem. But W, this is really, really good. Quite accomplished and slick, and I know you were working fast. And like Zinnia, I love a crossover between two favorite shows. It's the re-seeing of our characters as others see them that's, well, sexy.

I still have no idea about most of the Fringe stuff, beyond the basics, but this seems like a very plausible crossover scenario. Your Mulder is fantastic.

I love my Mulder in this, so thank you! I really do think Mulder and McClennan have a lot in common.

I think you would love Fringe.

Not having seen a moment of Fringe, I wanted to see how this would read! There are universes that can cross-pollinate, and I would say, as this reads seamlessly, these are two such worlds.

Thank you. The closed X-Files department is pretty much canon in the Fringe verse. There really is a scene in season one or two where Dunham asks for all of the files on unexplained phenomena from the FBI data base. And then they wheel the files into her office...

I think you would love Fringe.

I think you would love Fringe.

I can't get sucked into anything more!! LOL!

I watch Sleepy Hollow and fans rant about John Noble (I think that's his name.) and how he ate Fringe and blah, blah, tastycakes, so it's almost like watching the show too! (I hate when folks do that. Your old show has its own boards. Go whine there. Thanks.)

Mulder's perfect here. I can see him, hear him, watch every move he makes. (I've never seen Fringe, so...) I agree with those who think this could and should be part of a MUCH larger story ;)

Thank you, especially re: Mulder. That comment means a lot.

This does need to be part of a larger story, even more so after my husband-beta pushed me to rewrite it. I didn't realize how big this story could get until I was near at the end. Between McClennan and Mulder trying to find out about what Olivia knows about colonization, I think there is enough for a short noir-ish novel.

Of course, I will need a plot.

I think you would love Fringe.
