this is sweet. i like the dynamic of their conversation - the low-key, deadpan bantering, which is really more them deflecting seriousness than actually talking about anything specifically. i like this exchange:

“Maybe we could go UFO-hunting.”

He’s joking. She hopes he’s joking. She raises an eyebrow, and he gives her his best little-boy pout.

“Do you realize it’s almost 1999?” he asks, “Only one year until all the computers fail, civilization collapses, and we all have to resort to cannibalism.”

Scully rolls her eyes. She knows he’s mostly joking, but she really isn’t in the mood for this sort of thing right now. “Mulder, let’s watch the movie.”

and the fact that scully gets him a movie out of one of those bargain movie bins...that is just...i don't know what i think of that! *g* i didn't think anyone bought anything out of those bins! hee! *shakes head* it's cute. mulder likes kitsch - he'd like it.
