There lies the catch-22 of simultaneous submissions: On the one hand, the more you send out, the more likely you are to get a positive response. On the other, what if you hear back from someone who's not as high on your list?
I'm currently waiting to hear back from my writing workshop guy on my last chapter; he said he'd respond sometime this week, so I don't hear from him by Friday, I'll give a call. Then, I'm throwing the thing to wolves, response or no.
Well...I've sent out almost 30 queries thus far; so I'm not too worried about holding back to wait for Agent Z's response. But, yeah, when you're first sending them, I would suggest sending queries out to your "favorites" so if any one of them responds it's a good thing. I suggest sending queries out 5-10 at a time, too. It makes the waiting the easier.
