for anyone who doesnt know, hatsune miku is a digital idol. her voice is completely made by synthesizer. no, its not a girl singing and having her voice robotized. its not from any person, it is completely machine. hatsune miku is a program that costs around $150

Is Hatsune Miku the name of the program, or the name of the icon/mascot? Because I thought the name of the program was Vocaloid.

the mascot. yes Vocaloid is the program. up to version 2.0 i believe

It's an interesting program - it allows for one to speak a number of syllables, and the program will make it musical. So you could use your own voice, set the machine to a particular style (soul, perhaps, or pop) and set the notes and the machine does the rest.
