I do not encourage NaNoWriMo. Not that it isn't a good idea but they scheduled it wrong. In the month of November people are at school, in jobs, doing important things. August? Hell, it would be perfect in august. But take it from me, if you're a writing student do not even attempt the Nano. It's not a good idea.

I'll keep that in mind. Thank goodness i'm a Business Student! They make us write stuff but as long as we include the words 'paradigm' and 'synergy' the rest of it doesn't have to make too much sense. ;)

As for "people being busy" ... the end of August is always clogged for me. School begins, yard stuff needs doing, the last of the summer roadtrips are taken, the last-minute 'oh crap i said i'd do XXXXXX by the end of summer' push... not to mention that all the local used-book festivals occur. :D

I figure that I make enough excuses for myself, you know? Life is what happens while you're TRYING to get the stuff you want done. At some point, if I'm serious about getting my story out, I've just gotta make myself do it.

The other thing i do, to keep myself sane? My pledge is never to "write 50,000 words"... but to "do more than I did last year." If i keep that up, every year? I"ll hit that big mark! (eventually.)

Where exactly is your grandparents' house? If it's not too far on the other side of the bay I can potentially meet you there! But if it's all the way by Ocean City or something I'd probably get there and then have to turn right around. (What with STEPHEN COLBERT tonight I'm not leaving Leesburg till tomorrow morning, and then I need to be back in Glen Burnie by 7.) Email me!

Are you doing NaNoWriMo because you want to write something good, or just for a fun exercise that you want to actually finish? 'Cause if the latter, this piece might help you out...

My own insane novel is included on the site in its entirety, if you're interested in wasting several hours or more of your life skimming it. ;)
