2009 Reading List #17 and #18

Yes, I'm skimping on the comments this time, because the year is already over and anyway I don't have SUPER huge comments to make about them...

#17 was Little Women by Louisa May Alcott; #18 was a complicated kindness by Miriam Toews.

I had a really hard time reading Little Women -- I would stop it and start it and stop again. It also didn't help that my mother was "urging" me to read it -- "Ugh, Mom, this book is so borrrr-innnnng!"

Then in 1994, a film adaptation was made starring Winona Ryder. And it has my cinematic girlcrush Claire Danes in it (as Beth...*sob*!) so of course I had to watch it. :-)

Not to mention the stunning Christian Bale as Laurie, and well, I was hooked!

After seeing the movie, I (not-so-surprisingly) managed to finish the book. :-)
