Little bitty NaNoWriMo break

Gacked from second_batgirl & likeadeuce. This apparently comes from tumblr, so it doesn't totally make sense, but I am posting it unadapted. Pick a number (or #s) and I will answer these questions to the best of my ability :)1. How did you get interested in fanfiction ( Read more... )

I tend to like figuring out how canon ships work (or not work) but I do enjoy my occasional crack!ship.

1) Ollie Queen/Chloe Sullivan (Smallville): It was a crack!ship before it became canon. ;) And everything canon did is pretty much my head!canon for the ship anyway. I love it when that happens!

2) Darcy Lewis/Clint Barton (Marvel Cinematic Universe): I'm mildly obsessed with this, homg. Never even interacted once on-screen in any of the movies so far but dayum there are some fantabulous fics out there. There's an element of manic-pixie-dream-girl trope in most fics with Darcy that plays quite well with Clint's banter-y tough guy characterisation ( ... )

15. There are AAAAAALLLLLLL the plot ideas I want to do/read. *L* I don't even know where to start.
a) What if SV!Lex Luthor was orphaned & raised as a Queen?
b) What if SV!Clark was a teen dad (to SV!Conner)
c) I want Abigail Brand in the MCU. I don't even care how.
d) razzin-frazzin hargle-margle stinking Last Family of Krypton Goes on a Roman Holiday fic that goes on re-write after re-write after re-write
e) Hey, can someone make a Black Widow movie, pls?
f) MOAR

16. I usually make fanmixes for my fics that incorporate songs I associate with my OTPs. And I have very long playlists for my OTPs but if I had to choose 1 or 3 for each:
a) Lois/Clark: "A Love that Will Never Grow Old" by Emmylou Harris, "When I See You Smile" by Bad English, "The Way That I Am"

b) Gambit/Rogue: "Love Interruption" by Jack White, "Bonnie & Clyde II" by Martina Sorbara, " "Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow" the Amy Winehouse version

c) Darcy/Clint: "Spine" by Page France, "My Boy Builds Coffins" by Florence + the Machines, "I Want You" by Elvis Costello.

4. I've gotten a taste for gender-bending AUs for which I believe I have you to thank for. ;) I don't care if it's always-been-opposite-gender fics or wacky-science/magic-change fics. I love, love, LOVE reading fics where Tony Stark is has always been/becomes Toni/Antonia Stark because you can see how many things boy!Tony gets away with that girl!Tony can't (at least in society's eyes). I wish there were more stories about boy!Rogue & the psychology of a male being unable to touch. Likewise girl!Cyclops & how she'd fare with all the pressure of being The Leader of Mutantkind.

The AUs I tend to write are more along the lines of Sliding Doors/Blind Chance where I change one (sometimes small) thing that actually becomes a big thing. I get a little lazy sometimes because I have to keep going back to canon so I can reference/tweak certain scenes.

18. Oh, this is looooooooooong. I have a recs tag on LJ, bookmarks on AO3 (which is mostly Avengers) & on FF.Net (which has been updated), & once I recced things on crack_van. I keep thinking I should ( ... )

6b. Don't read Duplicity. Unless you also read all of the follow-up stories. (There is humor in the main story, but probably not enough. Mostly it's terribly tragic.)
6c. Orbs for eyes. Globes for breasts. Check.

9 Love
b.i. I used to like the what-ifs a lot (as in Elemental!). But I've seen some really bad versions, so I no longer get nearly as excited when I spot 'em.
c.i. Hell to the yeah - suddenly compensating for different body parts and urges (and powers for double-wheee!) is always entertaining!

9 Hate
b. and b.i. Don't read Promised Land, either; even though it's a movie-verse AU whose main initial brainstorming premise was slave fic, it does some of both of these things.
d.i. It's a really fine line, isn't it? And a hard one to walk.

6b) I think I might have started to read Duplicity then got frustrated by the ending (see: 6d) then got terribly embarrassed/shifty-eyed when someone raved about it to me. I'm quite simple at the core; I like happy endings. ;) Despite what I sometimes write.
6c) I'd forgotten about globes = breasts. Unless it's in one of the romances novels I still have leftover from high school which I love out of nostalgia.

9.LOVE
c.i) I read one where the JL from DC:TAS switched genders. Girl!Flash or girl!Superman supersped then stopped and when "OWWW!" while clutching their breasts. Because YES that will happen without sports bras. ;)

9.HATE
b) Noted & thank you.
d) It is! And sometimes it wrecks with my May-December kink (oh hai! thar Elemental). I think in general, I dislike fics that don't deal with the negative implications of the mentor-student/ person-in-power/person-under-command. Especially if everyone else around them thinks it's la-di-da-lovely. Or it's just written badly. ;)
