Thank you for sharing this. It's truly heartwarming to hear. I still don't think he (and many others) addresses the other issue when it comes to race...it's not just a skin issue. When hollywood whitewashes roles, such as in 21, last airbender, dbz, etc. they did so by changing the backgrounds and history of the world and culture. 21 was based on a book about asian-americans, who's asian-american identity was important to the plot. airbender took place in an asian and inuit inspired world that was turned into 'foreign vague ethnic' garbage by shymalan. He removed all the chinese characters, added christian influence to a very buddhist inspired plot and world (many fans call Aang kungfu action Jesus, but I chalk that up to their limited information about buddhism history and culture in general). dbz...don't even get me started. But basically, race is a skin AND culture thing, and Hollywood not only takes away roles from minority actors but spits upon the cultures of others, because if they had white actors playing these parts like they
