They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be. They only lack the light to show the way. For this reason above all, their capacity for good, I have sent them you... my only son.

A Superman movie should be as much fun to watch as Ironman 1
And like Iron Man 1, it should make people who don't originaly like the character suddenly and inexplicably fall in love with said character. (Oooh I have an idea! Can Robert Downey Jr play Superman?! Just kidding ;p)
Superman Return was 'buh' at best (and why James Marsden's character so often end up being the character who's screwed over?). Superman is more than a piece of Krypton on Earth, the guy Lois swoon over (Lois do not swoon. She's supposed to kick ass and take names) and a clueless Kansas boy. And Lex Luthor is a supervillain you're supposed to be afraid of!
New!Superman and Dark Knight!Batman should be like matter and antimatter until they get along (though maybe not that drastic - Bats' supposed to have a reason to like the alien after all...)

I've always said that RDJ's Iron Man is what would've happened if Brucie the Playboy got it into his head to be a superhero. DAMN, but RDJ makes his assholiness so enjoyable. I can't wait for May.

Batman and Superman are kind of like my and my BFF, fateschewtoy. If you asked us individually to list a set of characteristics we hate the most, it would end up describing the other person. but for some ODD REASON-- possibly because we're both geeky, possibly because no one else will have us-- we're besties. *L*

I love how you just skip over that Superman Returns disaster.

Sure, am up for a reboot. They seem to be rebooting everything else: why not this as well. Also, uplifting flicks tend to do well during economic downturns. *big hint, Hollywood, you morons*

I liked Superman Returns but more as a fanfic or for it potential or SOMETHING. I like Richard White. I liked the theme of looking for family/place to belong and finding it's been here all this time. I like Jason Lane. Jimmy was hilarious. Lois pissed me off because she was not even there but I even like and understand why Superman seemed so much more alien than before. I think it would've played off better if it was a 5-part mini series or something, where it could have explored those changes more.

Word to all of this. A Dark!Superman movie, unless it's Kingdom Come (which I would looove to see made into a movie as long as it's done just right), is just...no. Is totally against everything Superman is about.

Amen to this. I don't have much more to say really xD

I love what they are doing in Smallville right now, but it makes me sad to know that we will never see this Clark be Superman. I'm not saying the movie should be Smallville: the movie, I'm just saying I hope they take what's been done in Smallville, as character development and they use it. (wouldn't mind seeing Erica as Lois and Tom in tights xD)
Brandon Routh's Clark didn't work because that's not Clark Kent anymore, and that Clark Kent can not be the Superman we need right now.

But yes, Superman is not dark, he's the glass half full kind of guy. A friend once told me that the people who prefer Superman over Batman are the optimistic ones, the ones who see the bright side to everything and, in my case, it makes sense. Superman is hope vrs Batman being vengance. Clark does what he does because he can, because he lost a world and doesn't want to loose another, because he loves and because he cares, you take that away and there's no Superman.

Erica is already Lois. She just needs to move up a couple floors. ;)

-- SR was about Superman/Kal-el, not Clark. And I sort of get that because his story is about trying to re-find his place in the world. He's like the ultimate closed-adopted child. So, no, Clark barely made an appearance.
