I believe this fic was the reason I friended you. Not sure. I remember finding your journal and going ZOMGSHINYSPARKLYPRETTY at everything but this fic was one of the best. From first to last, a realistic-feeling fic that really resonates with any reader. I say this as a person who has little familiarity with Marvel comics.
I so agree with you about Richard White. I've been a Lois/Clark shipper since I watched Lois and Clark:TNAoS when I was ten (my first fandom) but in any other hero movie not starring Superman, Richard would've been the protagonist. I can see him and Clark becoming quite close if it weren't for the whole Lois thing and secret identity thing.
I've only ever watched the X-Men cartoon, but Rogue has always been one of my favourite characters ever and she and Gambit was my first OTP.
Sweet! I love this fic and I loved reading your commentary.
As an American, I can tell you that a lot of people use the word "Indian" and a lot of people, usually the ones educated enough or who give enough of a shit, use the phrase "Native American." They're pretty much interchangeable but "Native American" is, at least in my book, a lot more polite and accurate.
Basically, to Americans, "Indian" is not equivalent to the n-words; it's just what they've grown up saying and hearing, and not all of them are sensitive to the implications. And to us, "Aboriginal" refers to native Australians. I think I might have heard "First Nations" once or twice, but that's it.
Anyway, needless to say, I found the fact that you based that area on Native American reservations pretty fascinating.
