Attempts at true geekery goes boink

So, Emerald Con is cancelled this year. I think the Powers That Be heard my plans to take Bruce Timm home to draw for me FOREVER and/or glomp Gail Simone FOREVER. Thus, they interfered ( Read more... )

Awwwww. I'm sorry about all of this Katt -- the convention, the paper, and the rear-ending. Sounds like you're just having a lame week all around.

As to APA? Yes. It sucks. Rather like Chicago sucks, actually. MLA IS THE ONE TRUE WAY TO CITE SOURCES, DAMMIT. [/English student rage]

Good luck with everything. Mainly with the feeling better, and the writing of that paper.

I miss MLA!. Come back to me MLA!!! *weeps and wails and gnashes teeth*

I hope you ahve fun though. Brool over Bruce Timm and Gail Simone for me. And I demand many pictures. I'd still like to get together for Wolverine. However, on opening night, I'm in Vancouver doing evening shift which is a) far away and b) dicey on the timing. I'm free that weekend though.

*petpet* There there, s'okay. The APA can't hurt you. Much.

Pictures? But of course. Riley and I are both taking cameras. I'll try and get pictures of both Tim and Gail for you if I can. And if there's anything I can buy from one of the vendors for you, just let me know. I'll try and track it down, and we can negotiate repayment later. Maybe snacks at Wolverine? Something?

And that, of course, is an affirmative on the Wolverine. I'm free all that weekend except for Saturday night. We most certainly need to make plans.

I didn't have anything in mind for the vendors. I was just going to shop around for Clark, Lois, Kon, Scott, Remy and Rogue stuff.

But ohgod if you can get a signed artpiece by Timm under $10 (which was my budget anyway; I r cheap fan), that would be BRILLIANT. Lois, Clark, Kon-el or Terry McGinnis would make me squee. Gambit, Rogue or Cyclops by Timm would kind of make me faint because he primarily does DC only. I don't want you to line up for a long time or anything. Ditto Gail Simone especially if Oracle is somehow involved.

Ouch! *gentle hugs and ibuprophen... which I know I spelled wrong, but I'll let that distract you for a while*

I copy edit in APA style for my big client, so if you want me to review anything, feel free to nudge me, k?

Smooches, you.

*clings* I would really, really REALLY appreciate that. Thank you SO much. However, it's due April 7th which is a little more than 2 weeks from now. I don't think I'll have it done until middle of next week if I really boot it and I'd probably need it back by Sunday, April 5th to do edits. If this isn't enough time considering you have kids and real editing work, I totally understand.

I do have one burning question: headings that divide sections (eg. Patient Assessment, Review of the Literature, Procedure, Results, Conclusion). Are the centred, non-italicized or left-aligned, no indent, italicized?

Also, ibuprofen

TITLE OF PAPER: ALL UPPERCASE AND CENTERED

Section Headings: Centered, Roman, Uppercase and Lowercase

Subheads (Level 2): Centered, Ital, Uppercase and Lowercase

Sub-sub Heads (Level 3): Flush left, Ital, Uppercase and Lowercase

From sec. 3.31 of APA 5th ed. I edit at about 10 pages/hr. How long will this thing be? And then I'll tell you whether I'll be able to do it in two days. It's likely, though. :)

Hm, I never had any trouble with APA, but then again, I've been using it for almost 8 years now, since I'm a psych major, and my high school uses it as the standard format for papers. I've found this site to be helpful with formatting using MLA for my lit classes; I guess it would help you with APA?

Hope your whiplash gets better soon!

It's totally new and also, technical scientific writing makes me sadface. It's little details that trip me up, really.

Well, you'll get the hang of it soon enough :) Hope you do well with this paper!

Poor Jason! I'm glad you're okay, bruises and back-pain aside. Car accidents are scary things.

It was more shocking than scary. Thank you for the kind thoughts. :D
