Techy Question
Ok, I have a NEC AccuSync 19"LCD Monitor (two years old) that is hooked up to my tower (which is like 900 years old (bought in 01)) and seemingly dying, the tower not the monitor. I only use it to watch dvds and listen to music... but anyway ( Read more... )

A rare few monitors have RCA-type video-in connectors (kind of like a VCR), and that would work with a DVD player. If yours doesn't, I can't help.

but only because you hate brokeback mountain...

If the NEC has DVI input, you can get a DVD player with an HDMI output and get a cable that goes between the two. I've seen the DVD players as low as $50, and the cables for about $15. Search Fatwallet.com for exact references.
