is a two way street; without a perception of that possible identity, there are only more tradtional roles for men who love men to fall back on. I once heard it said that in certain parts of India, it's not a proper wedding unless you invite the local transexual diva preistesses, but it was alas a role that was despised as much as revered.

I work with a lot of indians and _all_ of them that are married are in arranged marriages, and the ones that aren't married know who they're going to marry already.

It's also possible that since a family with a non-conformant person damages the marriage prospects of everyone else in the family that we've been genetically bred down.
