[In the morning, Fenimore may be found sitting on a bench in the plaza. No, she's not sleeping on it this time. She's just sitting, with a picnic basket by her feet. She had thought she'd gotten everything ready for a picnic in advance, but she only realized that she had forgotten something in the morning. They needed something to drink out of, and ( Read more... )

[When Fenimore looks up from her picnic basket, she'll be able to see Shirley walking up the path. She's dressed similarly, in the sense that she's wearing a white and blue summer dress; however, unlike Fenimore, hers is short sleeved and she's chosen to forgo the stockings. She's also chosen to top the outfit with a white sunhat -- because we all know how much Shirley loves her hats -- and there's a small purse over her shoulder. Fenimore will recognize it as the one she made for Shirley's birthday to carry her journal in. Her hair, instead of hanging loose down her back, has been pinned back into a neat bun with one braid hanging on either side of her face ( ... )

[It's clear when Fenimore catches sight of Shirley. Her expression had been pleasant, even if the way she had been looking around implied some impatience--at the things holding Shirley up, not at Shirley--but her face brightens considerably when she sees Shirley. She stands, returning the wave, and takes a few steps forward to help close the gap, though she stops before she leaves the picnic basket too far behind.] Shirley!

[She had felt a bit of guilt herself over the near complete lack of guilt she had felt when she had first suggested stealing Shirley away from Sophie, but even that guilt evaporated when Shirley gets closer. She'd be more than willing to sacrifice a few weeks of her social life making it up to Sophie in exchange for this. And, as much as she had sufficient reason to do this for herself, it should be a good break for Shirley, too--something Shirley needed that she probably wouldn't give herself.] You look great.

[Shirley closes the gap completely by moving forward to pull Fenimore into a hug.] Thank you for coming out...

[Her cheeks pink. Even after so long, compliments from Fenimore still make her feel giddy.] Thank you... ... but, um -- [She pauses, blush deepening.] ... ... not as much as you do.

[There is no problem with hugs on this end! It is returned with enthusiasm. But, at the last comment, after taking a moment to smile and try to control her own flushing cheeks, she shifts slightly back. She's still in hug range, but just enough to move one arm up behind Shirley and onto that sunhat. If it were on Shirley's head, the motion would be a hair ruffle, but instead she sort of rotates the hat down on Shirley's head, though she's careful to be gentle on both the hat and her girlfriend's head.]

You only say that because you're in a biased position.
