[Ah, how tragic! Fenimore has been cast from her home by her closest friend, banished to wander through Luceti alone! Oh woe! Oh, the injustice ( Read more... )

[You mean, be careful with this rock that is skimming across the river in his direction as it gets a few more lucky skips than usual?

...Yeah, she's not being careful. In fact, she's pretty excited by the idea it might reach the other side. However, as it gets near to the opposite bank, she finally notices Minato in the context of "this is someone who might not want to get hit by rocks." She probably saw him earlier, but ignored him since he was asleep.]

Hey, look out!

[…and as she calls out, the stone sinks notably short of the bank. False alarm.

If his hearing is good enough, Minato may be able to hear the muffled, waterlogged drama trumpet.]

[If she didn't feel so sheepish, she probably would laugh at the way he got up.]

…Um, never mind. It was a false alarm.

[When all the birthday preparations are finished, Shirley starts wandering down the river, looking for her friend; she doesn't know exactly where Fenimore is, but she's thinking it will be somewhere near the water. In one hand is a small, prettily wrapped box. It may or may not be a birthday present.]

[She will find Fenimore if she follows the splashing not coming from the normal motion of the river. After Minato had left, she had spent a while proving to herself that she could properly skip stones. But that lost its appeal after a while, so she's reverted to tossing stones in without much care. Occasionally one of the rocks will skip once, but otherwise they just plop.

Muffled drowning trumpets may accompany it, but it's pretty quiet.]

[Well Sokka had meant to drop by and say hi on Fenimore's birthday, but he had been woefully unable to find her at home. That wasn't a problem, though. It had rained the day before and the ground was still moist. This meant Fenimore left a rather easy trail to follow. Or at least he assumed it was her. Couldn't hurt to check, right?

So soon enough, Sokka will be strolling along the river. Fortunately not with Shirley or with a flute. Lucky her, huh?]

[Lucky for her indeed. And lucky for him she didn't slip out into the water on the way, huh? This likely takes place in between Minato leaving and Shirley arriving, so she's in the middle of finding the perfect rocks for skipping. Occasionally, she will stand up from her searching to carefully launch them into a decent number of skips for the not-so-still river.

The drowned trumpet is still in effect, but, as always, it's pretty muffled.]

[Sokka doesn't seem to notice the trumpet, at least for now. Once he spots Fenimore and sees what she's doing, an idea begins to form. Fetching a nice smooth and flat rock from the ground, he goes to the edge of the river and then sends it skipping along the surface until it goes past her.]

[She startles as the rock enters her vision. She looks a little annoyed when she first, but she's worked out most of her irritation at being showed up (accidentally), so that fades fairly quickly when she sees Sokka.] Oh. Hello.
