Robert Carlyle is taking on a role in a new SG spinoff... so he won't be the next Doctor (though only a couple of weeks ago he said he'd love to do it - they're all such teases!). I could have accepted him. He has the ability to be many things - he can be very dark, or very goofy, or very straight - a well rounded actor. I look forward to the new ( Read more... )

Does Stargate need another spinoff? Especially one that sounds like a cross between Star Trek Voyager and Lost? I'm actually amazed years after I stopped watching the show because I felt it jumped the shark it's still producing spin-offs. LOL.
And brr, the wind chill here is -7. Not quite as cold as you but still. Yuck!

well, Atlantis has some really good one-off episodes still... though I am less vested in the characters than i was at the beginning. we'll see what they do with the new one, I may write it off early... but knowing that Carlyle is is going to be part of it does give me a little bit of hope ( ... )

I never watched Atlantis, by the time it launched I'd given up on the show for years. I actually think I stopped watching before SciFi picked it up. If I remember it was just before Michael Shanks left for his brief period. By that point all of the major plot points for the series had already been resolved and it was getting pretty dumb, even the husband was bored with it. So that was that. They went to SciFi and I'd hear things from time to time and I'd be like it's still on? It is sad I was once such a huge fangirly fan, ran the major online fic archive, did the fangirl trip to Vancouver to oogle locations and watch Shanks in Hamlet (ah, funny isn't it?), ran Yahoo Groups, went to a con. And then it all stopped. Which is why I determined never to get too deeply involved in another fandom. Better for my sanity in the long run. Will read fanfic, make icons, stare at photos of DT etc. But I won't get into debates or anything of that nature, some of these people scare me and I think god, I used to be just like them. Shudder ( ... )
