Beneath the Boat
As I peek around
the corner
of the jagged hole
I feel
a pull,
a draw.

I never thought about this place before.
Why now?
What draws me
here?

I step through,
foot in the dust,
darkness
driven away with the flick of my thumb--
good old Zippo.

What is this?
Tattered fabric,
ruined things.
Who put this here?
Step forward,
ignoring the chatter behind me.
