I'm pretty sure that some people just don't like to use their brains when they watch a film
I do believe you're absolutely right. My boyfriend, who is in love with "I <3 Huckabees" put it another way: "Some people are just not smart. And if you're not smart, you won't like this movie." I guess you could say that Huckabees is a real blue state film. A good-natured comedy for thinkers.
I'm glad you reviewed some documentaries. I always heard that "How to Draw a Bunny" tries too hard to be arty and therefore loses some of its ability to provide context for the average viewer. I'm a documentary freak and I've found that the best documentaries about art don't try themselves to be overly arty. Which is not to say that those documentaries don't have an art to them - just that the techniques are less conspicuous. But "How to Draw a Bunny" is still on my Netflix list and if you say it's good that makes me feel better about watching it.
