"You're humoring me."
"Pretty much, yeah. But that means you get to say a big, fat 'I told you so' if you turn out to be right." China knew why Russia wanted so sadly to believe the bond between them could be restored. And couldn't bear to think about it- so he wouldn't. He started walking again. "We must be nearly there by now."
The larger nation fell into step beside him. "Things will workout sooner or later. Our bond isn't that fragile."
"Could be."
"It's a good thing I don't believe in violence towards pretty things," he said, falling back into that ubercalm voice, "or I'd give in to the urge to shake you."
China managed to grin, just as if everything were all right between them.
"If I'm wrong, and we can't restore the bond-"
"Isn't that the meeting location up ahead?"
"Damnit, Jao!" Russia grabbed him again and spun him around, his fingers digging into small shoulders. "We will talk about this!"
China jerked back. Russia didn't let go. "You want me to tell you it's all right if you go back to catting around? Well ,it isn't! Without the bond, you're able to go sleep with whoever you want, and I will not-"
Russia smashed his mouth down on his.
China shoved on his chest, turning his face away. Panting. "You can't kiss me into agreeing. I won't share you. I don't care what your people think."
"Bugger my people."
That shocked him into holding still. Russia had told him once that he considered "fuck" a lovely word to describe a lovely activity, and he refused to use it for cursing. "Bugger" was about as vicious a curse as he ever used.
His mouth turned soft, pressing kisses along his cheek, his jaw. Gently, courting kisses. Russia spoke softly against his flesh, "Yao. We are idiots."
China's body was kindling, his brain going fuzzy. He wanted to cry. He wanted to grab him and kiss him back. "We are?"
"Mmm-hmm." Russia trailed kisses down his throat. "I've been frantic. Knowing what happened in the past, I thought...I feared...I'm afraid I had as little trust in us as you do."
"I...It's not that. I know how it is. I'm not the only one you need. I-"
Russia straightened, cupping his face, smiling down at him. "You'll forgive me, I hope, if I say, 'Been there, done that.' I don't want to do it anymore. Only you, Yao. I want only you."
China's heart turned over. He could swear it just inverted itself in that moment, opening wider, bigger. He slid his hands up to Russia's shoulders. "Your leader won't like it."
He cocked one eyebrow. "You believe I succumb to peer pressure?"
"You're leader's pressure," the smaller man said. "My leader's pressure."
"They'll learn to accept my decision. Or not." Russia's thumbs stroked the side of his face. "I was going to inform you that you were not free. That I was not letting you go, no matter what. I had quite the little speech ready, but you wouldn't let me use it."
Easy, so easy, to smile at him now. "I was too busy keeping you from telling me that, however regretfully, you were going to have to go on and find another suitable partner."
"Idiots," the Russian said again, his eyes smiling...and his hands moving. Warming his sides. "Both of us."
"Uh, Ivan, this isn't the time or place-"
"We're alone." He pressed a kiss to China's collarbone, then flicked it with his tongue. The warmth of his hands lingered on his sides as they moved again, sliding down to his rump, then up again.
"That's the point."
"And I want you."
"Mmm." Heat arrived, a languorous, swelling heat, making him stretch like a cat beneath Russia's stroking hands. "I might be persuadable."
"Let's see."
This kiss was as soft as the first hand been hard. Russia licked his lips, then sucked gently on it. China did the same with his tongue. There mouth parted and joined, first from this angle, then that. The climb into desire was easy, slow, and mutual.
Russia wore jeans, like China, with his shirt untucked. The black haired nation slid his hands beneath the warm cotton of his shirt, needing the feel of his skin. Russia's arms tightened. China's breath caught. Russia cupped him.
Between one breath and the next, the easy climb was over.
Need had teeth. They sank into China, pumping in lust like a venom, hot and swirling. China gasped, his fingers digging into the other's muscles as he rocked against Russia's hand. "Ivan."
"Jeans," Russia said, and tugged at the Chinese's zipper. "I hate jeans."
China nearly strangled on a laugh. "Harder on me that you, since we can just unzip yours and there you are. Here, let me..." He helped Russia tug his jeans and boxers down, but they caught on his shoes. One ungraceful hop and a tug, and he had on leg free.
That was all he required, apparently. Russia swept China up, taking the smaller man to the ground with the blond on the bottom. He swung his bare leg over Russia's hip, looking down at his flushed skin, his violet eyes looking up at him.
Russia cupped his face. "I thought I lost you."
"You didn't. I'm here. I want you in me."
He agreed- wordlessly, urgently, freeing himself from his jeans.
China slid down over him, moving as slowly as he could make himself go. Wanting to memorize every sensation. Looking into Russia's eyes the whole time.
Russia gasped. "Jao-"
"Almost," China whispered. "Almost..." Then he was fully seated. He bent to kiss the Russian slowly, lingeringly. Let their lips separate, just barely, and whispered against his mouth, "Okay. Okay, no more slow."
"Thank God."
From that moment on, their loving wasn't entirely mutual. China was strong and agile and quick, but he wasn't anywhere as quick as Russia was when he got in a hurry. And the larger man clearly wanted speed. He gripped the slender hips and pumped fast, then faster, and the raw bolts of feeling tore a cry from China's throat, ripping through him so hard and fast he couldn't keep up, couldn't-
And then he did, convulsing from the inside out. One blind second later, he felt Russia empty himself into him. China collapsed on top of him.
After a moment, he felt the other stroking his hair. China smiled and considered opening his eyes. "Mmm. That answers one question."
"What's that?"
"It wasn't just the treaties that had us yanking each other's clothes off all the time, was it?"
"There was some question about that?"
Russia put just enough offended hauteur into that question to make his smile widen. "I love you."
"I love you." Russia paused. "We're okay then?"
The question was flavored with just enough uncertainty to make China prop himself up so he could look at him. "We're okay. Not dignified," the Chinese added, looking at the jeans and boxer still wrapped around his left leg. "But very much okay."
