Guys.

Explain to me why, in my four years at SCAD, not one of my grew-up-on-the-classics professors, nor any of my delving-into-our-roots friends put a copy of Justice League International in my hands and said, "Read."

This is probably the best superhero comic I've ever read. Heck, it doesn't even feel like a superhero comic. I didn't know you ( Read more... )

Oh man welcome to the JLI love. I only found it a few years ago myself but I adore it so much. Kevin Maguire is one of my all-time favorite artists, and most all the characters are high on my Favorite Character List. Guy, Ice, Booster, Ted, Fire, the Dibnys, et cetera.

The good news is that they're generally pretty well written these days (the ones that are alive, that is...), so Booster Gold and Green Lantern Corps and the like are worth checking out. While he's a legacy to Ted, so is Jaime the Blue Beetle (the JLI guys show up in his book now and again).

Guy and Booster are currently leering down at me from a shelf.

I've heard good things about Jamie as the Blue Beetle, and I'm loving what I've read of Booster's book. Apparently, there's something of a possibility of Ted still being alive? (Probably the only time I won't complain about impermenant comicbook deaths. Unless they ever feel like bringing back Skin.)

Leering down? Action figures? Or just a comic cover? They do leer frighteningly well.

The current Blue Beetle book is excellent, and criminally low on the sales charts. It needs to be kept alive!

Ted was brought back in Booster's comic for a few issues, until he apparently sacrificed himself again for the good of the universe (there was timeline issues). However, I've heard rumors from the writer and such that he's actually still alive and hiding out somewhere, so he may show up again.

Action figures! The characters have finally been getting action figures lately. All I need are some Blue Beetles and Fire & Ice and I'll be golden.
