It's just not fair--we hardly got any of Ecclston at all, and he doesn't even do audio programmes or anything! I thought that you knew that was because he doesn't want to. He doesn't want to do the audio plays and he doesn't want to come back.
I mean, I'd heard that he quit so early because he didn't want to be typecast as the Doctor, but other than that...Come on, Chris! The only other Doctor who never ever came back was Tom Baker, and given that he had the longest, most definitive run, he seems fairly entitled.
Argh. Where'd you hear that? Maybe he'll change his mind some time? He was such a good Doctor.
I kinda wanna cry now. Took away a good bit of hope.
Agreed, on most counts. I'm not sure yet just how I feel about River. I guess...there was a part of me that didn't like her that much, so I sort of didn't want to think that she'd end up meaning so much to the Doctor. I'd probably need to see more of her to decide if I liked her or not, and that's not going to happen, so I guess I just have to trust that the Doctor knows what he's doing and she's obviously awesome if he fell in love with her.
I'm also jumping on the "bring back Eccleston" bandwagon, but...I don't know if that'll happen. I don't think he's ever outright said that he'd never do anything Who related ever again, but he seems a little squeamish about it. I think he sees it as a "that's something I did, and it's over, and if people liked me and recognize me for it, that's fine, but I don't want to go back" sort of thing. I think he's the type of actor that prefers being out of the spotlight...he finds a role, does it, and then moves forward without dwelling on the past. I think, honestly, he was a little overwhelmed

There were definitely bits I loved. Pretty much...most of the things you loved. XD I liked River's interaction with Ten (when they weren't driving the 'spoilers' thing into the ground), I liked his negotiation with the evil shadows, I liked getting to see Donna have an emotionally intense role. (And I hope she finds him too! Just..awww.) I just...didn't think the episode was the sum of its parts, I guess? It wasn't...cohesive, for me, technically or emotionally. There was also too much I recognised
