9/7/08 9:30pm - I have a tiny smidgen of net, where I can kinda check my e-mail but that's about it. This bugs me. I should supposedly be back online tomorrow... we shall see

I really enjoy the Southern Vampire series, though I've not yet read the most recent release. But I've read all the others and I'm quite fond of them. I didn't watch True Blood, but OJ did DVR it for me so I'm sure I'll be sitting down to have a peek soon.
I LOVE Kelley Armstrong. LOVE! Funny you mention her as I've promoted her books to two separate people this weekend, totally unrelated to each other, lol. As a matter of fact, I'm supposed to swap Bitten for Twilight with mellydramatic, since I haven't yet read this Twilight series that I've been hearing so much about!
I'm liking the first one so far, it's pretty easy to fall into which I like. True Blood Ep 1 is like pages 1-25 in the first book ;).
Oh, MAN me too!! I think I stumbled upon her when I was working at Waldens still, and only Bitten was out. I think at current it's the one series that I read that I'm TOTALLY caught up on :). I pimp her out left and right, I'm such a fangirl. I love the shifting perspectives, the big cast and how they all intermingle. The next one's due out in Oct, I think...
I really do need to pick up the next Southern Vampire book. I've just been avoiding bookstores because Halloween is eating all my 'spare' cash!!
We haven't watched True Blood yet; I do hope they do a good job. Is it a half hour or an hour show?
Only that small of a portion of the book? Wow. Isn't that only, like, the opening bar scene or something? LOL
I don't know how I feel about watching a TV SHOW based on books I enjoy. I'm always somewhat dubious about movies based on books, and that's only a 2-hour torture session, lol. This has potential to drag on, and on, and on...so I'm a little nervous about it. HBO usually does a good job though...but still.
I like it, but I saw it before I started reading. It goes to her beatdown, cliffhangering at her bloody in the parking lot. But like I said, reading it I see Anna, so she did leave an impression on me as Sookie ;).
Yeah... I'm actually right there with you. Usually I HAVE to read the book before I see the movie/show, including comics like Blade, Birds of Prey and Witchblade. But... I didn't know! Hehe. So I'm reading now. Depends on how they do it, I guess...
Like take X-Men. That was my gateway comic and I LOVE them. I saw the first movie in the theater and HATED it! Bobby was Jean and Scott's age! That's not Rogue, that's Jubilee! Mystique is Rogue's "mom"!! There were so many changes I had a geeky fandom meltdown, heh. But then after I cooled off and saw it again and saw it as it's OWN X universe, I was better, and X2 is one of my fave movies :).
So... you might get to enjoy something you love in a whole new way!
i've read the whole series thus far, and i really hope she continues it. i liked the first episode, despite the changes they made - like making tara a bigger character. one of my other lj friends pointed out that doing the show exclusively from sookie's POV (like the books) would just be too much for anna paquin. (who i thought did an excellent job, btw.)
but yeah, i loved the books so i'm pretty excited about this show. ^_^
I TOTALLY see Anna as Sookie while I'm reading it now, I think she's a great fit. She keeps playing those untoughable Southern bells, heh ;).
I'm ususally much more on top of things, like what book's a comic now, what comic's a movie, etc. Having a baby's put me outta the loop ;). But I a glad I caught the first ep. It's gotten me to start the books ;).
