Mythos Mixtures:
Pixies:
Pixie - Oftentimes mischievous creatures, farmers would trap them in bottles to keep them from eating their fruit crops - luring them with sugared fruits. It is said that the Pixies smelled like the berries they so loved to steal. --- Sugared ripe blueberries and strawberries combine with grapefruit, lightly topped off with a sprinkle of pixie dust.
Pink Pixie - Another Pixie caught! This one is pink and sweet and was lured by sugary pink treats. --- Fluffy pink cotton candy, delicate pink carnations, ripe raspberries and sugared strawberries, all sprinkled with glittering pink pixie dust.
Crimson Pixie - Another Pixie caught! This fiery red little pixie was lured in by the promise of beautiful crimson treats. --- Sweet, candied cherries with vibrant red hibiscus and two little red hot cinnamon candies. An unexpected blend of spice, sweetness, fruit and floral.
Gods:
Feathers of Amun - Amun was first recorded in Egypt as meaning “the hidden one”. Amun is known as the God of Air in Egypt and quickly became associated with the “breath of life” which is known for creating the ba (the part of the human soul which makes an individual unique). Being the God of Air, when depicted in human form he wore a circlet that had two straight plumes which are best represented as feathers of a bird. --- This scent is light and clean and has a lingering airy quality suitable for the hidden one. Rain, golden musk, and air.
Faro - An African god known for keeping harmony and responsible for both sky and water. In fact, Faro cares so much about the harmony on Earth that he returns once every 400 years to make sure that it’s the way it should be. In between those times he is constantly watching over the universe and organizing it to maintain balance. --- A light musk followed by the soft scent of rain. Musk, clean rain, crisp mint, and just a touch of lemon zest.
Goddesses:
Queen of the Underworld - Persephone was queen of the underworld in Greek mythology but not on her own accord. Myth has it that Persephone was abducted by Hades and only released under the will of Zeus. When Hades released Persephone from the underworld he gave her a pomegranate which later she would eat from. Tricked by Hades, Persephone having eaten from the pomegranate was forced into returning to the underworld for one season each year. In time, she became consort to Hades and thus was known as the queen of the underworld. --- A warm, nutty vanilla base infused with mango and pomegranate, with a hint of crushed red fruit.
Creatures:
Encantado - "The enchanted ones”, encantados are shape shifting, party loving dolphins that have a playful nature and enjoy interacting with humans when they shift into their human form at night. They are known for slipping into parties and having illegitimate children with humans mostly, but some stories involve a darker side of the encantados - stories of them haunting people or stealing children and dragging them into the water. --- A playful aquatic, sweetened by vanilla with a devious bite of mint and cucumber.
Doppelganger - Ghostly twin, deadly double, ghastly vision, harbingers of bad luck; no matter how you look at it, seeing your doppelganger is usually not a good thing. However, there is one Halloween myth that states if a girl lights two candles before a mirror, while eating an apple, a spectral image of her future husband will peer back at her. If after that, she can muster the courage to walk around a graveyard at least twelve times, she will meet up with the double itself. --- Candle smoke, luscious green apples, and freshly squeezed lemon juice.
Flight of the Harpy - As I awaken I feel the wind flow through my hair and peer down upon the mountain and tree tops that I once looked up to. Gazing over the green grasses and oceans that I soar above, I look to my left to discover that I’m held up in the sky by sharp talons that are connected to a bird-like frame. The fear starts to set in and I peer straight up to discover the face of a woman that seems connected to the rest of this bird. Whether I am being taken off to paradise or my final resting place, I decide to accept fate and enjoy the flight of freedom that I have always dreamed of. --- Birds of paradise, ripe black cherries, and a light touch of resin over crisp ocean waters.
Will o' Wisp - Will o' Wisps - also called ghostlights and ignus fatuus - have been making appearances in folklore for quite some time. The story behind it is often quite similar to the story behind the Jack O' Lantern. Some say that a blacksmith named Will was refused entry to Heaven, due to the wicked life he led, and was doomed to roam the earth for all time. The Devil gave Will a single coal to burn, which emitted the eerie light known as the Will o' Wisp. Many travelers were said to be lured into bogs and swamps by this ghostly light, and never seen again. Other tales of the Will o' Wisp depict the being as mischievous, but not entirely malevolent spirits. The flitting light of the Will o' Wisp are even sometimes known to lead people to hidden treasures! --- A bright, flitting and glowing scent; bergamot, lemongrass, white musk, moss and the tiniest hint of peppermint.
Pirates:
Adventure Galley - The Adventure Galley was one of Captain Kidd’s famous pirate ships. The privateer turned pirate was most well known for his trial yet there are various stories ranging from his treasure to many of his early plunders. Due to the many adventures and the condition of the boat, it was finally burned to the ground by Kidd himself (in the shallow waters of St. Mary’s Island - a well known pirate base) and he and his crew set sail aboard their new ship, The Adventure Prize. --- Planks from the once famous ship, fresh coconut, mango, and papaya, with a hint of leather.
Other Mythology:
Demon's Blood - Their blood is every bit as dark as their personality. Demons are known as the evil fallen angels. Usually depicted as evil creatures that bear wings and sometimes appear human during the night time, demons would easily be considered the opposition to angels both in appearance and in actions. Bringers of death, disease, impurity and deceitfulness, these beings shroud themselves in all that is impure. --- Charred wood, dragon’s blood, ash, nutmeg, allspice, and ginger.
Hunger of the Night - Many different legends tell tales of undead creatures that consume the life force of the living. Whether it is their spiritual life force or that of the warm blood that flows through their body, either way these undead beings suck the very essence that makes man what it is. When doors close, lights go out, and the sun sets, these soulless beings come to consume whatever it is they should desire. --- Sweetly dark - this turns faster than being bitten by a vamp yourself. Sweet trickled blood flows over cranberries, pomegranate, and rich blackberries with the lingering scent of smoky city streets.
Minthe - Minthe was a naiad (a river nymph) who was said to be the daughter of the river Cocytus. Hades was enchanted with her beauty and wanted to possess her. As he traveled to seduce the young Minthe, Persephone discovered this and grew furious. To stop her husband from completing his plans, she turned Minthe into a sweet smelling herb - mint. --- Two types of mint, bayberry, myrrh, and an aquatic befitting of a naiad.
Mooncake - The Moon Festival is a popular Asian celebration that dates back over three thousand years. During this celebration, they worship and pay tribute to the moon goddess Chang'e, who is said to live in the moon and represents the female principle - the Yin. A family would burn incense to honor Chang'e and eat mooncakes while gazing at the moon. These mooncakes are traditional pastries made with various paste fillings, and are traditionally enjoyed on this holiday. --- A soft pastry with sugared lotus seed paste and green tea.
