Oooooh I love LA. I used to go there a few weeks a year when I lived in Las Vegas.
It is really expensive to live in LA. In the early 90s, a 2 bedroom a block south of Sunset (on Sierra Bonita) was $900. And gas is $$$.
Things you must do:
Go for a drive into the Hollywood Hills and just wander around. Try to find your way onto Mulholland Drive and find the place where you are right above the Hollywood Bowl, look to the left, you'll see the Hollywood sign. You can see the city (through the smog) up there also.
If you like Thai food (and it's still open) check out Thai Beer on Sunset.
If the club night is going, check out Helter Skelter at Probe (on Highland or LaBrea, something like that, on the east-ish side of town)
Venice Beach on a weekend. It's a zoo. Make sure you are out of there by dark, that's when the gang members come out.
Say hello to the ocean for me if you make it that far west.

yeah! hollywood and highland rocks...that in my opinion, is the best place. they have the hollywood star thingies there too. its so fun there! have fun!
