Why don't you go and shout at the English and beat them for me?

I have had an immensely fine day. Having played on the interwebs this morning I took myself off up to Waterloo to meet chiasmata. The weather was playing nicely enough for us to be able to go and picnic by the London Eye before wandering down to the National to see St Joan.

O God that madest this beautiful earth, when will it be ready to receive Thy saints? How long, O Lord, how long? )

pondering, shiny people, huzzah, sleepy, theatre

It really was an incredible play. I mean I enjoyed it when I was watching but I've found myself thinking back to it quite a lot too. Someone asked me whether I'd reccommend it to friends and I said without a doubt, and that it was one of those plays where the script, cast, staging and music all come together to create a seamless whole.

The chairs were utterly fabulous.

Next time we have a move, I will have to inveigle Mr into London. I know I am officially only 45 minute away but it would be so good to get to this sort of thing without having to worry about trains home...
I once did a speech from St Joan for a drama festival, when I was about 14. It was the bit where she is pleading with someone - I really cannot remember at all who though :-( but I know I always meant to read the whole play and never got round to it.

Chris Colquhoun was totally in Casualty - I didn't recognise him! And I know damned well who Anne-Marie Duff is, but I can't quite figure out how...
