☩There is a harmony in autumn, and a lustre in its sky☩

First and foremost, this is a party.  It may be celebrating the end of summer, and the opening of a business, but it's a party, with all and sundry invited.  There is food, wine, music, and, hopefully, something to keep everyone entertained.

Yes, it is a mixture of what the hostess has always known -- there are sheaves of corn used in decoration -- ( Read more... )

Sergei cleans up nicely (he has the genes for it), but he's a bit nervous. He's in American-style dress-robes, which are a bit closer to a muggle suit, though still clearly wizarding attire - just a very GQish sort of wizarding attire.

The nerves come mainly from being uncertain who he might run into. And which version of them. Of course, none are from the fact that his date looks incredibly pretty and he has yet to tell her how much he thinks so. That would just be silly.

Speaking of Sergei's date: that would be Avdotya, approaching his height in the heels she settled on for the evening. She'd foregone the wizarding traditional in favour of something she'd picked up while travelling, which she was tentatively calling a good idea thus far.

"Are you all right?" she murmurs solicitously in an undertone.

He smiles at her. "Oh - I'm fine, yeah. Just hoping I don't run into a version of me who's old and fat and loves polka music or anything. You know, typical nexus worries."

His joke gets a smile in return (a little dubious, but willing to accept that). "I met my cousin Sirius here," she confides, holding onto his arm. "Not here, but- you know, in the city. He was sweet to me."

Linden weaves silkily through the partygoers, keeping his eyes open for Magdalen. He looks fairly ordinary and not at all out of place, somehow, although he might be a servant rather than an actual guest.

He should be extremely familiar to Martel, however, from Magda's dreams.

Leonato, decorous as ever and only slightly more formal, is doing much the same. Finding Linden instead is something of a nasty shock. He draws back toward the wall.

Linden catches sight of him anyway, because he's Linden, and that's his talent. He permits himself a small smile.

"Master Leonato. Come here for a moment, if you would."

He pauses, visibly debating whether or not he in fact will. In the end he doesn't, but neither does he move away, waiting stolidly for Linden to come to him if it's all that important.

Sagramore is wrapped in bandages all around his torso, and has a very loose shirt over that, so that it's quite obvious how bandaged up he is, but on the other hand he has a safe place at a table where he is trying to keep out of immediate harm's way, and Kutya has her head on his knee, and he is getting completely trashed, so all in all he is feelin' pretty good.

"Sir!" Molly, though she came with Linden, has wandered off from him at some point. (He was clearly distracted with looking for someone or something, and Molly had a lot of shiny people and things to examine in the meanwhile.) She beams to see him.

He doesn't recognise her at all, but he smiles anyway. "My lady?"

She catches that lack of recognition, and is a bit disappointed. "Oh...Sir. I'm sorry, only it looks like we haven't met yet."

Then something else registers, and she looks alarmed. "You're hurt?"

Michelle's appropriately attired for such an event, enough so that even Jack couldn't fault her.

She does not intend to stay at the party for long, but has brought down Elisheba to say goodnight to Melou (though, somehow, the hostess acquired her daughter for a period of time). Michelle's stay at the Mare may have only just begun, but she's reassured the proprietor not only likes, but clearly is willing to enjoy, the soon to be constant presence of a now five month old.

Said five-month-old is surprising enough in this company that Mordred gives them a second glance -- and if their glances happen to cross, let's just say the family resemblance has always been striking, except that he lacks the air of habitual woe.

Far be it for me not to encourage such a quest! itsmyvow October 1 2010, 00:09:35 UTC
Michelle is rather surprised, and a little suspicious of the man across the room. Immediately, she feels protective of Melou -- a little ironic as Melou is meant to protect Elisheba.

So here is Michelle, looking at the man across the room -- highly suspecting of who his is in relation to the young man. She nods her head at him, and makes her way over, as she is about to take Eli back upstairs to the makeshift creche.

"Hello." The voice is light, and pleasant, betraying nothing of her suspicions. Granted, Michelle's more likely to give people the benefit of the doubt, even after everything.

He looks at her again, more curiously. "Evening. Past somebody's bedtime?"

Annika does not, for once, burst upon the scene like a curly-haired grenade of glee, largely because she's accompanied by Jim, who seems like an easily embarrassed type. She does, however, bump him companionably with a shoulder. "Isn't this awesome?"

"Pretty nice," he agrees. At least he's had experience with these types of events.

"I love this place, it's so gorgeous." Annika smooths down her dress a little self-consciously -- there are a lot of full-on princess gowns floating around and it's making her feel wistful -- and peers up at him.

"Yeah." He realises that his responses might be lacking a little and smiles down. He links his arm with her. "So. Can I get you a drink?"
