While he knew the definition of the word, it wasn't until after a year on Tatooine that he truly understood the meaning of exile. The desert planet was already sparse and with his only contact with the outside world being a moisture farmer and his wife, Obi-Wan heard little news of the war outside of Owen's grumbling

And yet he didn't sense any ill will on behalf of the man and with being sent to quite a different world, Obi-Wan stood up in greeting. It was only polite. "Oh, you're not an intrusion. If I'm in your way I can find another place."

Ichabod comes and goes at random times in Xanadu to keep himself from losing his mind in his own world. Meeting new people along the way gave him new knowledge in dealing with situations that he wouldn't have known how to handle before.

He can feel his pulse slowing to a more normal rate as he does his best to relax under the circumstances. With a small smile, Obi-Wan nods. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Ichabod. I'm Obi-Wan Kenobi." He then remembers Owen's scoff associated with the name and adds, "Or Ben if you prefer."

"I-" he pauses, not quite sure what to call Tatooine. "I do live in the desert, yes. Is it that obvious?"

He walked along the grass in his pressed shirt, jacket draped over the crook of his arm, and shiny black shoes covered in grass. It was only after he stopped for a break when he noticed the other. He was half expecting a herd to sheep to be in tow.
"Must be taking a break from the old monastery." he mused mostly to himself, removing his shoe and giving it a good shake to remove some pebbles.

The Jedi sensed the man approach and decided to wait until spoken to. At the comment he still doesn't turn to the stranger as he continued to look at the river. "If a monastery is what you're looking for, I believe you've come to the wrong place."

"My mistake," Tony offered in a lax tone.
"No. Not what I'm looking for. I'm all about being in the wrong place."

"And just what would be the right place?"

When she sees Obi-Wan, she watches him with silent curiosity for several long minutes before she finds a spot behind him where she can stretch out on the grass, her chin propped in her hands, observing him while he sits. And then she just lies there, wondering idly what people think about.

Instead he practices his calm, watching the river flow gently by before closing his eyes and opening his ears to the sound of rushing water.

She's about ten feet away now, shielded by a cluster of tiger and oriental lillies.

He takes a deep breath and exhales slowly, enjoying the feeling of an atmosphere free of harsh desert elements.

It'd be nice if meetings like this could all be soulful and clandestine or at the very least not impossibly awkward. Unfortunately, Luke's been out of the Nexus for so long that he's still mentally calling it the Nexus and not Xanadu, and so he's not paying as close attention as he should. This is exacerbated by the fact that he's conversing on his communicator with the 'Yes mother' sort of tone that suggests he'd rather not be, comm unit in one hand, cup of engrossing Earth-coffee in the other, peculiar bag slung over one shoulder. His black garb is accentuated by an obnoxious yellow leather bomber jacket (why, Luke), but nothing stands out quite so much as the very distinctive weaponry attached to his belt.
"Yeah, I know, Wedge," he's saying into his communicator. "It's gonna work! You're too paranoid. You've been promoted for too long. Yeah. Okay. Okay. I promise. Like six hours. Really. I'm--"
He doesn't notice the older man until he's practically on top of him, and when he's there, the look of 'Oh, I'm an idiot' that passes ( ... )

Fortunately for Luke, Obi-wan turns to face him much after the idiot-face passes. Curious, yet still cautious, Obi-Wan stands and brushes his hands against the sides of his robes.
"Hello there," he says, a greeting that Obi-Wan knew he had the bad habit of using far too often as soon as it left his mouth.

Luke has run into all kinds of alternates in his travels between dimensions, but the ones from his universe - one way or the other - never cease to throw him. He knows this man, and would recognize him no matter his age, but his stature, his gaze, and that nostalgic greeting - Luke has to take a moment to just stare.
"Uh." Smooth, kid. "Hi."
He tells himself that he should be used to this, that once you get stuck living with your twenty-four year old father and your mutual twenty-three year old mentor that things should stop sending him into moments of awe, but Obi-Wan Kenobi holds and always will hold a unique sway over him. And this is no young apprentice by far - the gravity about him speaks with familiarity of the man that first trained him. (Who Father murdered.)
"I mean. No, hi works. Hi."

Yet in his confusion there is also a realization that with this person being Force sensitive, Obi-Wan is not as alone as he had previously thought. The young man didn't seem particularly threatening; but then again, Qui-Gon had told him that Anakin wasn't either at age ten.
"I apologize if this seems forward, but have we met?"
