"Your brother woke me up this morning and started showing me every single one of his scars. I've never had anyone touch me the way he does - like I'm beautiful, like he's proud of my scars. Proud of me." Her cheeks flushed; when she looked at Sam directly, there were tears in her eyes and he would have told her something if he could have spoken past the lump in his throat
This bit is just....SQUEE. So beautiful. I'm so - aw DEAN you are the cutest and bless hug Charlie for her scars and getting past them and HUG SAM for ...not being able to speak!

Thank you! I didn't like the original conversation, because it sounded like Charlie was saying, "It's OK that Jess is dead. You'll get someone better." And that's not what she was trying to say at all. I think she knows the boys have self esteem on par with hers, and the fact that she's so open with Sam shows just what she feels about him. (Honestly, can't see her saying something like that to Dean.)
God - I know this was all character driven and no action (apart from the action between Dean & Charlie) but hell I loved this ... the whole shopping mall thing - perfection.
I wish my Barbie had had a Baretta, or an Uzi or something - she'd have played more nicely with my brother's Action Man (GI Joe) then!
I love how Dean spoils Ellie rotten - the Barbie wardrobe etc, the Merry-Go-Round ... Dean probably was exactly the same with Sam when they were kids - though now Dean has the dodgy plastic to back up the spoiling ...
And okay - who doesn't like schmoopy sex? I know Charlie has issues and hasn't had it easy, and won't be getting an easy ride at the Roadhouse, but heck .. JEALOUS here!!!

Thank you! That scene actually had the most substantial revision, because it came across as too "normal" to the fabulous J. And she was right. So I played it off of Sam's memories of normal with Jess and Dean looking like he was in hell, and I think it plays off much better that way - the only time Dean really relaxes is when Charlie is there to play off of his jokes, and given her gift, that's probably completely intentional on her part. ;-P

I know. Barbies are so foofy...

I'm convinced that, when it comes to the Winchesters, CCR = bad.
Not confirming or denying that... But Charlie changes a lot of things.
And I want to know: is Dean's middle name Martin?
I knew you'd pick up on that. (Well, and the CCR song...) Yes, I was going to have him be Dean Martin Winchester. Hey, Charlie's named after a book. (Her dad really does have an interesting sense of humor.)
But I also thought James Dean Winchester would work...
I love how you are incorporating the Roadhouse into the mythos.
Thank you! My big problem with the Roadhouse is that I don't think it was introduced as elegantly as it could have been. Don't really blame anyone for that - new network and the late pick-up equals jarring impact to the show. So I decided to see if I could do better and come up with a more organic way to introduce it. Good to see that it's working. ;-P
:D Dean giggled!!! That's even better than Dean cackling!!! EEEEEEE So wonderful!!! lol. And I loved Ellie's line..."Did he give you a Ding Dong this morning?" lol so funny!! I love them all!!! Can't wait for more!!!!!

Yes, Ellie had the naughtiest line in the whole chapter. I felt bad sticking it in the mouth of a six-year-old. (And yes, yes he did...)

And Dean...a gentleman...lol funniest thing I've heard all day. And I watched Hell House today. lol.
I love Dean and Charlie. So cute. And Sammy is so sweet. I hope everything works out.
